I woke up to a loud crash when a tree in my front yard fell over and hit my garage door. Emil Garage Doors was able to give be a really good price on a new garage door. They uninstalled the old, damaged door and realigned the tracks the garage door connects to which had been damaged as well. The new door looks great and most importantly functions well. Thank you for going above and beyond in my time of need!Stuart · Google review
They were able to come within a few hours of my call. Another company could only give me a 4 hour window of arrival time the next day, but these guys was able to give me a 2 hour window the same day. One the guys called before arriving. He was friendly and competent in explaining the problem and our options. I was so grateful he had replacement springs and was able to fix our garage door in less than an hour.David · Google review
Not paying attention I closed the garage door on a pipe laying in the track. Needless to say it did some damage even though the automatic reverse opened the door back up. Emailed what happened on Sunday evening. Appointment with quote provided in just a few minutes and appointment confirmed. Once again they arrived on time. Completed repairs quickly and for less then the quote. Cleaned up like they were never there. I highly recommend them and will continue to use them for my garage door repairs.Carroll · Google review
Technician showed up on time, assessed our issue & presented replacement options. He proceeded to install new equipment during the same visit and everything was finished in less than two hours. We were impressed with the performance of our tech. It’s easy for us to recommend this company.Kathleen · Google review
The replacement of my broken spring was done quickly and professionaly. I was also provided an explanation on why the tension was set as it was. I was called in advance to be informed of the arrival time. Great job as it has been in the pastFrancine · Google review
My garage door spring broke the other evening and I was unable to open my door. I contacted them first thing the next day. They were able to give me an appointment for later in that day. The service technician called prior to arrival as promised & arrived shortly afterwards. He recommended some additional service to the door in addition to the springs which I accepted. The door was repaired in less than 2 hours & now works better than ever. Thank youBrandi · Google review

What Woodland Hills weather does to a garage door
Summers are long and hot. NOAA's 1991-2020 normals for the Pierce College station, about 2 miles from the center of Woodland Hills, give an August average high of 97.4 degrees, about 115 days a year at 90 degrees or higher and about 36 at 100 or higher. On September 6, 2020 the National Weather Service recorded 121 degrees at that station, the highest official temperature on record for Los Angeles County.
The LAFD lists portions of Woodland Hills in its Very High Fire Hazard Severity Zone, so look up your own address on its map. LADWP's 1 p.m. update on January 8, 2025, during the windstorm, listed 5,289 customers without power in Woodland Hills, a snapshot rather than a total, so know where the manual release is.
Before summer, spray the rollers, hinges and springs with garage door lubricant, not heavy grease, and after a windy day clear the leaves and grit from the bottom of the tracks.
- Check your address on the LAFD fire map
- Lubricate rollers, hinges and springs before summer
- Keep the battery backup tested

Battery backup, permits and design rules in Woodland Hills
Opener law. A battery backup is required on residential openers sold or installed in California (Health and Safety Code section 19892), and a replacement door cannot be connected to an older opener without one. If your opener is old, plan for a new one. See opener installation.
City permits. LADBS publishes the permit rules for the City of Los Angeles. Its Express Permit list includes same-size, same-type door and window change-outs, but it does not name garage doors, so confirm at dbs.lacity.gov first.
Associations. Check any HOA or historic overlay rules before you order a new door, and see new garage doors for style options.
Fire zone. The LAFD names Woodland Hills among the communities with portions in its Very High Fire Hazard Severity Zone. Homes the City maps in the zone fall under LADBS fire-zone construction rules, which include a provision for exterior doors. We could not confirm whether a like-for-like garage door swap triggers it, so check your address on the LAFD map and ask LADBS before you order.

Woodland Hills garage door repair: questions we hear
Is there garage door repair near me in Woodland Hills?
Yes. Emil Garage Doors repairs garage doors in Woodland Hills (ZIP 91364 and 91367) and the neighborhoods next door. Call (213) 340-4232, tell us your street or neighborhood and what the door does, and we book the soonest visit. See garage door repair near me.
What is the average price to repair a garage door in Woodland Hills?
Typical prices: a 12-point safety inspection is $89, a torsion spring pair for a standard two-car door is $250 to $450 (heavy-duty springs $350 to $900), a cable pair is $175 to $350, and a belt-drive opener installed with battery backup is $550 to $900. The final price is confirmed after we see the door.
What is the most common garage door repair in Woodland Hills?
Broken torsion springs are among the most common garage door repairs, because springs wear out after a set number of open-and-close cycles. Cables, rollers, safety sensors and off-track doors follow. See garage door spring repair.
How much is a service call for a garage door?
Our 12-point safety inspection is $89. It covers the springs, cables, rollers, tracks, sensors and opener, and we explain what we find before any repair starts.
Is it cheaper to repair or replace a garage door?
A repair is usually cheaper when the door itself is sound and only a spring, cable, roller or sensor failed. Replacement makes sense when panels are bent or rotted, the door is very old or the opening needs a different size. We tell you which one fits before we start.
Which ZIP codes do you serve in Woodland Hills?
Woodland Hills' home ZIP codes are 91364 and 91367. ZIP code 91365 is for PO boxes and 91371 is a code for Pierce College. Some Canoga Park mail in ZIP code 91303 carries a Woodland Hills address, so call us if you are not sure we reach your address.
Is Woodland Hills in a high fire hazard zone?
The Los Angeles Fire Department lists portions of Woodland Hills in its Very High Fire Hazard Severity Zone. Only an address check proves a specific house, so look yours up on the LAFD map. Fire weather brings wind, ash and power cuts, so keep the tracks clean and the battery backup working.
Can a handyman fix a garage door in Woodland Hills?
A handyman can handle simple things like a sensor or a roller. Springs and cables are under high tension and need a trained technician, so call us for those.
What is the most common problem with garage doors in Woodland Hills?
Worn or broken springs are the most common, followed by cables, rollers, sensors and doors that jump their track. On houses from the 1950s to 1970s the original parts are often worn out.
Does California require a battery backup on a garage door opener?
Yes. California Health and Safety Code section 19892 says residential openers sold or installed in the state need a battery backup, and a replacement garage door cannot be connected to an older residential opener that lacks one.
Do you also repair gates in Woodland Hills?
Yes. See gate repair and electric gate repair.
