| North along Bartlett Avenue and U.S. 395 | Bartlett Avenue, where the sheriff substation stands at U.S. 395 | Ages vary, so we check each door before we quote |
| South along Highway 18, Cactus Road and Seneca Road | The southern part of the city, where Wikipedia says large subdivisions were built in the 2000s | Newer homes where builder-grade springs and openers are coming due |
| West toward Mountain View Road | Streets in the western part of the city, with El Mirage Dry Lake farther west | Wind-exposed doors where track and jamb attachment matter |

Newer homes in the Victor Valley
According to the Census Bureau's 2024 estimates (the five-year version, because Adelanto is too small for a one-year figure), the median home in Adelanto was built in 1998. About 83 percent of homes are detached single-family houses, about 62 percent of occupied homes are owner-occupied, and about one home in forty is a mobile home. Wikipedia notes that large subdivisions went up in the southern part of the city along Highway 18 during the 2000s housing bubble, so many doors here are builder-grade and are now reaching their rated cycles.
Adelanto means advance or progress in Spanish, and the city motto is The City with Unlimited Possibilities. E. H. Richardson founded the town in 1915, fruit orchards gave way to poultry ranches during the Great Depression, and the closing of George Air Force Base in 1992 hurt the local economy. Adelanto became a city on December 22, 1970, and U.S. 395 and Bartlett Avenue is where its sheriff substation stands.
On a newer home the weak points are usually the original springs, rollers and opener. We replace springs as a pair, balance the door and check the cables and rollers that wore with them.
- Builder-grade springs and openers
- Rollers worn by dust and heat
- Battery backup on replacement openers

What Adelanto weather does to a garage door
Adelanto has no weather station of its own, so we use the nearby Victorville station, about 9 miles southeast, as a stand-in. Wikipedia lists its average daily high at about 97 to 98 degrees in July and about 58 in January, with lows of about 64 in July and 33 in January, roughly 109 days a year with highs of 90 or more and about 79 days with lows at or below freezing. Contractors report that heat can dry out bottom seals and wear opener belts, and that cold stiffens rollers and bearings. Those are general contractor claims, not Adelanto measurements.
Wikipedia's Victorville article says high winds are common year-round in the valley, especially in spring, and can bring down power lines and cause dust storms. A March 30, 2017 windstorm toppled a tree onto a Victorville mobile home, a tumbleweed jam closed National Trail Highway, and Edison reported 7,700 customers out across the region. Those stories did not name Adelanto, but the same valley winds reach it. DASMA, the door makers' association, says to close and secure a garage door before a high wind event and not to operate it during high wind.
Before a windy spell, close the door and find the manual release in case the power goes out. After a dust storm, wipe the tracks and sensors, and oil the rollers and hinges twice a year.
- Close and secure the door before high wind
- Know where the manual release is
- Wipe dust off tracks and sensors
What customers say
Real reviews from our Google listing, copied as the customers wrote them.
My garage door and opener were pretty banged up and not working properly. Emil Garage Doors came out, did a thorough evaluation of door and all it's parts. Even though the previous home owner rigged up the garage door opener with the wrong springs and parts, Emil repaired the door and saved us money by using some of the old parts. That kind of honesty will get 5 stars all day long. Thank you Emil Garage Doors for your great service.Bradford · Google review
I woke up to a loud crash when a tree in my front yard fell over and hit my garage door. Emil Garage Doors was able to give be a really good price on a new garage door. They uninstalled the old, damaged door and realigned the tracks the garage door connects to which had been damaged as well. The new door looks great and most importantly functions well. Thank you for going above and beyond in my time of need!Stuart · Google review
They were able to come within a few hours of my call. Another company could only give me a 4 hour window of arrival time the next day, but these guys was able to give me a 2 hour window the same day. One the guys called before arriving. He was friendly and competent in explaining the problem and our options. I was so grateful he had replacement springs and was able to fix our garage door in less than an hour.David · Google review
Not paying attention I closed the garage door on a pipe laying in the track. Needless to say it did some damage even though the automatic reverse opened the door back up. Emailed what happened on Sunday evening. Appointment with quote provided in just a few minutes and appointment confirmed. Once again they arrived on time. Completed repairs quickly and for less then the quote. Cleaned up like they were never there. I highly recommend them and will continue to use them for my garage door repairs.Carroll · Google review
Technician showed up on time, assessed our issue & presented replacement options. He proceeded to install new equipment during the same visit and everything was finished in less than two hours. We were impressed with the performance of our tech. It’s easy for us to recommend this company.Kathleen · Google review
The replacement of my broken spring was done quickly and professionaly. I was also provided an explanation on why the tension was set as it was. I was called in advance to be informed of the arrival time. Great job as it has been in the pastFrancine · Google review

Learn moreBattery backup, permits and design rules in Adelanto
Battery backup. California requires a battery backup on residential garage door openers sold or installed in the state (Health and Safety Code section 19892). A new door cannot be connected to an older opener that lacks one. See opener installation.
Design rules. Planned communities and historic overlays can limit door style and color. Ask before you choose a new door: new garage doors.
City permits. Adelanto is its own city, so its rules come from the City of Adelanto, not Los Angeles. We could not confirm whether a garage door or opener replacement needs a permit; a third-party permit guide says the city requires a permit to alter or repair a building, with nothing on garage doors or openers. City Hall is at 11600 Air Expressway, main phone 760-246-2300, and the city takes building permit applications through its online Camino portal. The numbers listed for Building and Safety conflict between sources, so call City Hall and confirm on the city website.
Other rules. We also could not confirm any hillside, historic district or fire hazard zone rule for garage doors in Adelanto, so if your home is part of an association, ask before you order a new door.

Adelanto garage door repair: questions we hear
Is there garage door repair near me in Adelanto?
Yes. Emil Garage Doors repairs garage doors in Adelanto (ZIP 92301) and the neighborhoods next door. Call (213) 340-4232, tell us your street or neighborhood and what the door does, and we book the soonest visit. See garage door repair near me.
What is the average price to repair a garage door in Adelanto?
Typical prices: a 12-point safety inspection is $89, a torsion spring pair for a standard two-car door is $250 to $450 (heavy-duty springs $350 to $900), a cable pair is $175 to $350, and a belt-drive opener installed with battery backup is $550 to $900. The final price is confirmed after we see the door.
What is the most common garage door repair in Adelanto?
Broken torsion springs are among the most common garage door repairs, because springs wear out after a set number of open-and-close cycles. Cables, rollers, safety sensors and off-track doors follow. See garage door spring repair.
How much is a service call for a garage door?
Our 12-point safety inspection is $89. It covers the springs, cables, rollers, tracks, sensors and opener, and we explain what we find before any repair starts.
Is it cheaper to repair or replace a garage door?
A repair is usually cheaper when the door itself is sound and only a spring, cable, roller or sensor failed. Replacement makes sense when panels are bent or rotted, the door is very old or the opening needs a different size. We tell you which one fits before we start.
Which ZIP code do you serve in Adelanto?
Adelanto homes use ZIP code 92301. That ZIP also carries the El Mirage name, so some addresses on it may be outside the city limits. Call us with your street if you are not sure we reach your address.
Does a garage door replacement in Adelanto need a permit?
We could not confirm that. A third-party permit guide says the city requires a permit to alter or repair a building but does not mention garage doors or openers, and the Building and Safety numbers we found conflict. Call Adelanto City Hall at 760-246-2300 to ask whether your door or opener work needs a permit.
Do homes built in the 2000s need garage door repairs in Adelanto?
Often, yes. Doors from builder-grade installs have a set number of cycles in their springs, and rollers and openers wear with dust and heat. According to the Census Bureau's 2024 estimates, the median home in Adelanto was built in 1998, so springs and openers are commonly reaching the end of their rated life.
Can a handyman fix a garage door?
A handyman can often handle a simple job such as a sensor or a roller. Springs and cables are under high tension and need a trained technician, so call us for those.
Does California require a battery backup on a garage door opener?
Yes. California Health and Safety Code section 19892 says residential openers sold or installed in the state need a battery backup, and a replacement garage door cannot be connected to an older residential opener that lacks one.
Do you also repair gates in Adelanto?
Yes. See gate repair and electric gate repair.
