Hesperia areas we serve
Areas are described by their landmarks, from local sources. Call if yours is not listed.
| Part of Hesperia | What is there | What we often see on garage doors |
|---|---|---|
| North, near Civic Plaza Park | City Hall at 9700 Seventh Avenue and Civic Plaza Park on Smoketree Street | Everyday doors on single-story houses |
| East, near Hesperia Lake Park | A man-made lake park on the southeast edge of town, off Arrowhead Lake Road | Larger lots and wider doors |
| South, near Hesperia Airport | A public-use airport about 3 miles south of the central business district | Doors from the 1980s and 1990s that are due for new springs |

Houses from the 1980s growth years, mostly with their own garage
According to the Census Bureau's 2020-2024 estimates, the median home in Hesperia was built in 1988. About 67 percent of occupied homes are owner-occupied, and about 82 percent of all homes are detached single-family houses, with only about 3 percent mobile homes. Wikipedia says the town of 5,000 in 1970 grew to more than 60,000 by 2000, so a large share of the garage doors here are now decades old and may be on their second set of springs, or due for one.
Listing and builder pages, which are weaker sources, describe The Estates at Silverwood as a gated master-planned community and Willow Oak Estates on Main Street as a gated 55-plus community, and builder listings for Silverwood show a monthly association fee. We could not verify which streets are gated or what any association requires for a replacement door, so check with yours before you order. Hesperia is about 35 miles north of downtown San Bernardino, directly north of Cajon Pass.
Many Hesperia garages are two or three-car doors on large lots, and a wide door puts more weight on the springs. Tell us your cross street and whether the door is a single, a pair or a three-car, and we book the soonest visit. We weigh and balance each door before choosing springs.

What Hesperia weather does to a garage door
Wikipedia's weather table for Hesperia, which cites a 2014 Weather Channel page and is an old source, puts the average daily high at 99 degrees in July and August and 60 in January, with January lows near 32. It lists records of 116 degrees and minus 1, though another source gives a different low, so we do not rely on either. It gives annual precipitation of about 6.19 inches and says summer monsoon storms can bring power outages and flash floods.
On February 23, 2023, snow fell in Hesperia, Apple Valley and Victorville, with a high wind warning for the High Desert and gusts forecast to 60 mph, according to the Victorville Daily Press. Southern California Edison also named Hesperia among communities that could lose power in a wind-driven shutoff on October 8, 2019. The industry group DASMA advises securing a door before high wind and not running it while the wind blows. When the power is out, use the manual release.
Before summer and again before winter, wipe the tracks, oil the rollers and hinges, and check the bottom seal for cracks or gaps. Press the test button on the battery backup.
- Know where the manual release is
- Check the bottom seal for sun damage
- Test the battery backup twice a year

Technician, Emil, was prompt and efficient to identify and fix the issues with our garage door. Rest assured that I won’t hesitate to call these folks if repair is needed.MeMee · Google review
Emil responded to my request for service promptly. He scheduled service for the next day and showed up on time. He was friendly and polite. He Immediately identified the problems and fixed them effectively and efficiently. He showed resourcefulness in coming up with a used part for an old door opener control and in coming up with a practical solution for stabilizing the door connection to the opener. Price for the work was very fair. Great company !! Thank you!!Christina · Google review
"Our garage door broke this morning, which was less than ideal. We were certain that it would cost a fortune to get it repaired on a Sunday, assuming it could even happen, but we knew we had to try. I called several companies and only two returned my call. One said that while they could send someone out, it would cost considerably more than if we could wait until Monday. While I appreciated the honesty, again, I wanted it fixed today. The other was Emil Garage Doors. When I had called they said they would call back. I did get a call back from Emil, less than an hour later. Anyway, on to the service. He let me know that it would cost the same to come today or tomorrow, it didn't matter. WOW and WOW again! He said that he could head here in about an hour. Additionally, when I asked him the cost of the various things it could be, what he quoted me were prices that were what the other place wanted to charge me after the service call fee and the hiked up hourly rate for the Sunday call! Upon arrival, he looked at the door, told us a few things that he noticed, and in no way did he ever try to "up-sell" us something we didn't need. He told us our opener was what they use, and top of the line. He replaced the gear drive (maybe that's the name:)) and upgraded our rollers (that was a suggestion, but, one we totally understood and he in no way said we "needed" to). I think he was in and out in 45 minutes at most and our garage door is quieter than before by a TON (thank you rollers) and, more importantly, it works and nobody had to miss work on Monday to make it happen. Thank you so much...I can't recommend your company enough. "Pamela · Google review
Emil is delightful, knowledgeable, professional, and capable. He promised to make the process easy and he did. From our first contact Thursday mid-day through completion of the project Saturday at Noon, everything was 100% perfect, and we are extremely happy. We are amazed when we look outside and see our beautiful new door, so soon after searching on google. Emil and his company deserve 100 stars but we are limited to only 5Dawn · Google review
It went very well, with the job being completed in three days. We waited few months for the supply chain to kick in ( Covid related delays ) and finally deliver the products. It was so worth the wait. Great installers, Emil and his team are professional and friendly, too, and patient in answering questions.Rachel · Google review
We interviewed several popular companies and we found that their quality, price, and level of professionalism is unmatched!Cory · Google review

Opener law. A battery backup is required on residential openers sold or installed in California (Health and Safety Code section 19892), and a replacement door cannot be connected to an older opener without one. If your opener is old, plan for a new one. See opener installation.
Associations. Check any HOA or historic overlay rules before you order a new door, and see new garage doors for style options.
City permits. Hesperia is its own city, so its rules come from the City of Hesperia and its Building and Safety Division, not from Los Angeles or San Bernardino. City Hall is at 9700 Seventh Avenue and the main number is (760) 947-1000. The Building and Safety front desk is (760) 947-1311 (building@hesperiaca.gov), and the inspection line is (760) 947-1300. We could not confirm whether a garage door or opener replacement needs a permit, so call the front desk before the work. The city's inspections page also lists construction hours of 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday to Saturday.
Fire hazard zones. San Bernardino County adopted Ordinance 4489 on June 10, 2025 to designate fire hazard severity zones in the County Fire Protection District's areas, and the fire district posts an interactive map at sbcfire.org. We could not verify which Hesperia addresses sit in a zone, so check the map for your street. We found no hillside or historic district rules for the city.

Hesperia garage door repair: questions we hear
Is there garage door repair near me in Hesperia?
Yes. Emil Garage Doors repairs garage doors in Hesperia (ZIP 92345 and 92344) and the neighborhoods next door. Call (213) 340-4232, tell us your street or neighborhood and what the door does, and we book the soonest visit. See garage door repair near me.
What is the average price to repair a garage door in Hesperia?
Typical prices: a 12-point safety inspection is $89, a torsion spring pair for a standard two-car door is $250 to $450 (heavy-duty springs $350 to $900), a cable pair is $175 to $350, and a belt-drive opener installed with battery backup is $550 to $900. The final price is confirmed after we see the door.
What is the most common garage door repair in Hesperia?
Broken torsion springs are among the most common garage door repairs, because springs wear out after a set number of open-and-close cycles. Cables, rollers, safety sensors and off-track doors follow. See garage door spring repair.
How much is a service call for a garage door?
Our 12-point safety inspection is $89. It covers the springs, cables, rollers, tracks, sensors and opener, and we explain what we find before any repair starts.
Is it cheaper to repair or replace a garage door?
A repair is usually cheaper when the door itself is sound and only a spring, cable, roller or sensor failed. Replacement makes sense when panels are bent or rotted, the door is very old or the opening needs a different size. We tell you which one fits before we start.
Which ZIP codes do you serve in Hesperia?
Hesperia homes use ZIP codes 92345 and 92344, according to zip-codes.com. ZIP code 92344 also carries the name Oak Hills, which is a neighboring community, so call us with your street and we confirm we reach it. ZIP code 92340 is for PO boxes only.
Does a garage door replacement in Hesperia need a permit?
We could not confirm a garage-door-specific permit rule for Hesperia, because we found no city page on it. Call Hesperia Building and Safety at (760) 947-1311 to ask whether your door or opener work needs a permit.
Is my Hesperia home in a high fire hazard zone?
We could not verify this for individual addresses. San Bernardino County adopted fire hazard severity zones in June 2025 and posts a map on the sbcfire.org site. Look up your street there, and ask the city Building and Safety Division what applies to a door job.
Can a handyman fix a garage door?
A handyman can often handle a simple job such as a sensor or a roller. Springs and cables are under high tension and need a trained technician, so call us for those.
Does California require a battery backup on a garage door opener?
Yes. California Health and Safety Code section 19892 says residential openers sold or installed in the state need a battery backup, and a replacement garage door cannot be connected to an older residential opener that lacks one.
Do you also repair gates in Hesperia?
Yes. See gate repair and electric gate repair.
