I woke up to a loud crash when a tree in my front yard fell over and hit my garage door. Emil Garage Doors was able to give be a really good price on a new garage door. They uninstalled the old, damaged door and realigned the tracks the garage door connects to which had been damaged as well. The new door looks great and most importantly functions well. Thank you for going above and beyond in my time of need!Stuart · Google review
They were able to come within a few hours of my call. Another company could only give me a 4 hour window of arrival time the next day, but these guys was able to give me a 2 hour window the same day. One the guys called before arriving. He was friendly and competent in explaining the problem and our options. I was so grateful he had replacement springs and was able to fix our garage door in less than an hour.David · Google review
Not paying attention I closed the garage door on a pipe laying in the track. Needless to say it did some damage even though the automatic reverse opened the door back up. Emailed what happened on Sunday evening. Appointment with quote provided in just a few minutes and appointment confirmed. Once again they arrived on time. Completed repairs quickly and for less then the quote. Cleaned up like they were never there. I highly recommend them and will continue to use them for my garage door repairs.Carroll · Google review
Technician showed up on time, assessed our issue & presented replacement options. He proceeded to install new equipment during the same visit and everything was finished in less than two hours. We were impressed with the performance of our tech. It’s easy for us to recommend this company.Kathleen · Google review
The replacement of my broken spring was done quickly and professionaly. I was also provided an explanation on why the tension was set as it was. I was called in advance to be informed of the arrival time. Great job as it has been in the pastFrancine · Google review
My garage door spring broke the other evening and I was unable to open my door. I contacted them first thing the next day. They were able to give me an appointment for later in that day. The service technician called prior to arrival as promised & arrived shortly afterwards. He recommended some additional service to the door in addition to the springs which I accepted. The door was repaired in less than 2 hours & now works better than ever. Thank youBrandi · Google review

A large city of tract homes from the 1990s
Victorville is the largest city in the Victor Valley. According to the Census Bureau's 2024 American Community Survey one-year estimate, its median home was built in 1997, about 78 percent of its 43,797 housing units are single-family detached houses, about 5 percent are mobile homes and about 65 percent of occupied homes are owner-occupied.
ZIP 92395 carries the Spring Valley Lake alias, but Spring Valley Lake itself is an unincorporated community, not part of the city. Real-estate listings describe it as a gated lake community with an association and patrol (these are listing descriptions, not a city statement), so entry gates there usually come with association rules. The only Victorville neighborhood Wikipedia names is Sunset Ridge, and we could not confirm any gated or HOA community inside the city limits.
On a tract lot from the 1990s we start with the gate and its hardware, then test the operator, the safety sensors and the remote receiver.

Why gates in Victorville stop working
These are the faults we hear about most. The real cause is confirmed on site.
| Symptom | Common cause | What we do |
|---|---|---|
| Gate stuck open or stuck closed | A failed operator, a locked manual release or a power fault | Use the manual release as the maker directs, then diagnose the operator |
| Gate reverses without touching anything | Dirty photo eyes, a bent bracket or a force setting that is too low | Clean and realign the photo eyes and reset the force |
| Gate swings or slides unevenly | A leaf out of level, worn hinges or a loose track | Level the leaf, replace hinges, tighten the track |
| Clicking sound but no movement | A weak battery or a failed starting capacitor | Test the battery and the capacitor and replace the weak one |
| Solar gate stops after a few cycles | A weak panel, an old battery or shade on the panel | Test the panel and the battery, clean or move the panel |
| Remote or keypad gives no response | Dead batteries, a lost code or a receiver fault | Replace batteries, reprogram the code, test the receiver |
Do not run an operator against a gate that is jammed or dragging.

What the Victor Valley does to a gate
Wikipedia's Victorville page, using a weather station that has operated since 1917, lists mean daily highs near 97 degrees in July, about 109 days a year at 90 degrees or more and about 79 days with lows at or below freezing. Summer heat bakes batteries and plastic housings, and winter freezes can stiffen hinges and slow a gate.
The same page says high winds are common year-round, especially in spring, and that summer monsoon thunderstorms can bring flash flooding, lightning and hail. A March 2017 windstorm left about 7,700 Edison customers without power across the region, according to ABC7, and Edison has warned Victorville customers of possible wind-driven shutoffs. Lightning and power cuts are hard on control boards, and a gate with a weak backup battery can stay stuck shut or open.
Before summer, test the backup battery, wipe the photo eyes and check that the gate opens by hand when the operator is released.
- Test the backup battery before summer
- Wipe photo eyes after dust storms
- Know how to release the operator by hand

Permits, HOAs and emergency access in Victorville
City permits. Victorville's Building Division and Permit Center is at 14343 Civic Drive, phone (760) 955-5100, with the city's site at victorvilleca.gov. The permit information we found does not say whether a gate, a gate operator or its wiring needs a permit, and the city's own list of permit-required residential work is described as not comprehensive. We could not confirm a gate-specific rule, so call the Building Division before a new gate or new electrical work.
Fire department access. A locked gate can slow emergency crews. Ask the local fire department what it requires, for example a key switch or Knox box, before you install or change an entry.
Design rules. Planned communities and HOAs can limit gate style, height and color. Ask first, and we can give you a written scope for their review.
Entrapment protection. The UL 325 standard covers automatic gate operators and calls for devices such as photo eyes or contact edges. We test these devices every time we repair an operator.

Victorville gate repair: questions we hear
Is there gate repair near me in Victorville?
Yes. Emil Garage Doors repairs swing and sliding driveway gates in Victorville (ZIP codes 92392, 92394 and 92395) and the neighborhoods next door. Call (213) 340-4232, tell us your street or neighborhood, the gate type and what it does, and we book the soonest visit. See gate repair near me.
Is there electric gate repair near me in Victorville?
Yes. Electric gate repair near me in Victorville means a technician who repairs the operator, control board, sensors, remotes and backup battery as well as the gate itself. Call (213) 340-4232 and we book the soonest visit. See electric gate repair.
What is the difference between gate repair and electric gate repair in Victorville?
Gate repair means the gate itself: hinges, posts, latches, wheels, tracks and frames. Electric gate repair means the parts that move it: the operator, control board, sensors, remotes, keypads and battery. Most service calls need both checked, so we start with the gate and then test the electronics. See gate repair.
Why does my electric gate hum but not open?
Hum without movement points to a binding gate or a failed capacitor, gear or arm. Keep the operator off, and we free the gate and test the parts.
How much does gate repair cost in Victorville?
A sensor, remote or hinge costs far less than an operator or a rebuilt post. We quote after we see the problem and before we start, so you know the price first.
My gate does not work during a power outage. What can I do?
Most operators have a manual release, and many can use a backup battery. Use the release as the manufacturer directs and call us. We test the battery and the control board, because a flat battery or a board that lost its settings after an outage is common.
Should electric gates be serviced?
Yes. A yearly check of the battery, sensors, hinges or track, and operator keeps a gate from failing at a bad time.
Can you repair a gate operator from any brand?
We repair most residential operators. Tell us the brand and model, or send a photo of the unit. If parts are no longer made we explain your options.
Which ZIP codes do you serve in Victorville?
Victorville uses ZIP codes 92392, 92394 and 92395. ZIP 92393 is for PO boxes only. ZIP 92395 carries the Spring Valley Lake alias, and Spring Valley Lake is outside the city limits, so call us with your address if you are not sure we reach you.
Does a power outage or wind event affect gates in Victorville?
Wind and power cuts are a known issue in the Victor Valley. A gate with a healthy backup battery keeps working through a short outage, and a gate without one needs its operator released by hand. We test batteries, control boards and sensors, and show you how to release the operator.
Can a handyman fix a gate?
A handyman can handle a loose latch or a dead remote battery. A failed operator, a control board or a gate that has dropped off its hinges needs a technician who can test the controls and the safety devices.
Do you repair garage doors in Victorville too?
Yes. See garage door repair in Victorville for springs, cables, openers and new doors, and garage door repair near me. When you ask for both we can look at the gate and the garage door at the same address.
