Called the office to let them know my issues and asked if we could get someone out to look at my door. Was told between 11-12...drove home from work at 11:05 and Emil was waiting and ready to get to work. Not knowing anything about how to fix a garage door, Emil did a great job explaining why I was having issues. Quoted a reasonable price (well at least what I thought was reasonable) and less than 40 minute later he had fixed the problem. Great customer service from intake of the call to fixing my door! If you need a garage door repair...support local business and give them your business, you won't be disappointed.Guadalupe · Google review
My garage door and opener were pretty banged up and not working properly. Emil Garage Doors came out, did a thorough evaluation of door and all it's parts. Even though the previous home owner rigged up the garage door opener with the wrong springs and parts, Emil repaired the door and saved us money by using some of the old parts. That kind of honesty will get 5 stars all day long. Thank you Emil Garage Doors for your great service.Bradford · Google review
I woke up to a loud crash when a tree in my front yard fell over and hit my garage door. Emil Garage Doors was able to give be a really good price on a new garage door. They uninstalled the old, damaged door and realigned the tracks the garage door connects to which had been damaged as well. The new door looks great and most importantly functions well. Thank you for going above and beyond in my time of need!Stuart · Google review
They were able to come within a few hours of my call. Another company could only give me a 4 hour window of arrival time the next day, but these guys was able to give me a 2 hour window the same day. One the guys called before arriving. He was friendly and competent in explaining the problem and our options. I was so grateful he had replacement springs and was able to fix our garage door in less than an hour.David · Google review
Not paying attention I closed the garage door on a pipe laying in the track. Needless to say it did some damage even though the automatic reverse opened the door back up. Emailed what happened on Sunday evening. Appointment with quote provided in just a few minutes and appointment confirmed. Once again they arrived on time. Completed repairs quickly and for less then the quote. Cleaned up like they were never there. I highly recommend them and will continue to use them for my garage door repairs.Carroll · Google review

A fast-growing city of newer single-family homes
According to the Census Bureau's 2020-2024 estimates, the median home in Los Banos was built in 1997. About 60 percent of occupied homes are owner-occupied and about 84 percent of all homes are detached houses, so most households have their own garage. The median owner-occupied home value is about $440,900. Wikipedia reports the population grew from 35,972 in 2010 to 45,532 in 2020, and doors from the late 1990s are now reaching the end of the cycle rating on their first springs.
Wikipedia says the name means the baths, after a spring that feeds local wetlands, and that Henry Miller's Miller and Lux Corporation was headquartered here. Henry Miller Plaza is a 10-acre half-oval plaza downtown, the Falasco Arts Center is in the historic St. Joseph's Church, and the Randall Fawcett House, a Frank Lloyd Wright Usonian home, is in the city. We could not verify any named homeowners association or gated community.
Newer homes here often have wide two-car doors with attached garages. Tell us your cross street and whether the door is a single, a double or a third bay, and we book the soonest visit. We weigh and balance each door before choosing springs.

What Los Banos conditions do to a garage door
Wikipedia gives Los Banos a semiarid climate with cool winters and hot summers. Mean daily highs run from 55.6 degrees in January to 94.6 in July, and the town averages 97.1 days a year with highs of 90 or more and 15.5 days with lows of 32 or below. Average rainfall is 9.48 inches over 47 days. The page does not name the weather station. A news article citing the National Weather Service in Hanford reported an excessive heat warning from July 2 to July 9, 2024, with Los Banos forecast near 112 degrees on July 6.
The National Weather Service in Hanford issued a dense fog advisory for parts of Merced County for February 26 to 28, 2026, with visibility possibly a quarter mile or less, worst in the morning, according to the Los Banos Enterprise. Wikipedia adds that gusty late-afternoon winds are common, especially near Pacheco Pass, and we did not verify a wind average. The Los Banos Creek Detention Dam, built in 1965 and 1966, was built for flood protection for the San Luis Canal, the Delta-Mendota Canal, the city and other downstream development. We found no documented flood of the city itself.
Heat is hard on openers, springs and weatherstripping, and fog leaves a damp film on metal parts. Wipe the tracks and oil the rollers and hinges before summer, and check the bottom seal for gaps after foggy, wet mornings.
- Oil rollers and hinges before summer
- Check the bottom seal after foggy mornings
- Test the battery backup twice a year

Battery backup, permits and design rules in Los Banos
Opener law. A battery backup is required on residential openers sold or installed in California (Health and Safety Code section 19892), and a replacement door cannot be connected to an older opener without one. If your opener is old, plan for a new one. See opener installation.
Associations. Check any HOA or historic overlay rules before you order a new door, and see new garage doors for style options.
City permits. Los Banos is its own city, so its rules come from the City of Los Banos. City Hall is at 520 J Street, and the main line, taken from a county document seen in search results, is (209) 827-7000. Ask for the Building Department, and confirm the number, since the city's website did not open normally for us and we could not confirm an extension or office hours.
Garage door permits. A third-party permit guide says permits are generally required when a structure is altered or repaired, with some minor exemptions, and says to call to confirm. It says nothing specific about garage doors, so we could not confirm a garage-door-specific rule. We also could not verify any historic district, hillside or fire hazard zone rule that applies to garage doors.

Los Banos garage door repair: questions we hear
Is there garage door repair near me in Los Banos?
Yes. Emil Garage Doors repairs garage doors in Los Banos (ZIP 93635) and the neighborhoods next door. Call (213) 340-4232, tell us your street or neighborhood and what the door does, and we book the soonest visit. See garage door repair near me.
What is the average price to repair a garage door in Los Banos?
Typical prices: a 12-point safety inspection is $89, a torsion spring pair for a standard two-car door is $250 to $450 (heavy-duty springs $350 to $900), a cable pair is $175 to $350, and a belt-drive opener installed with battery backup is $550 to $900. The final price is confirmed after we see the door.
What is the most common garage door repair in Los Banos?
Broken torsion springs are among the most common garage door repairs, because springs wear out after a set number of open-and-close cycles. Cables, rollers, safety sensors and off-track doors follow. See garage door spring repair.
How much is a service call for a garage door?
Our 12-point safety inspection is $89. It covers the springs, cables, rollers, tracks, sensors and opener, and we explain what we find before any repair starts.
Is it cheaper to repair or replace a garage door?
A repair is usually cheaper when the door itself is sound and only a spring, cable, roller or sensor failed. Replacement makes sense when panels are bent or rotted, the door is very old or the opening needs a different size. We tell you which one fits before we start.
Which ZIP code do you serve in Los Banos?
Los Banos homes use ZIP code 93635, according to zip-codes.com, which lists it as the city's only ZIP code. A ZIP area can reach past the city limits, so call us with your street and we confirm we reach it. We also serve nearby Dos Palos and Merced.
Does a garage door replacement in Los Banos need a permit?
We could not confirm a garage-door-specific permit rule for Los Banos. Call the city at (209) 827-7000, a number from a county document that you should confirm, and ask for the Building Department.
Does summer heat or tule fog affect a garage door in Los Banos?
Heat is hard on openers, springs and seals. A Hanford National Weather Service warning in July 2024 had Los Banos near 112 degrees, and a February 2026 advisory warned of dense fog. Damp mornings leave a film on metal parts, so oil the rollers and hinges and keep the tracks clean.
Can a handyman fix a garage door?
A handyman can often handle a simple job such as a sensor or a roller. Springs and cables are under high tension and need a trained technician, so call us for those.
Does California require a battery backup on a garage door opener?
Yes. California Health and Safety Code section 19892 says residential openers sold or installed in the state need a battery backup, and a replacement garage door cannot be connected to an older residential opener that lacks one.
Do you also repair gates in Los Banos?
Yes. See gate repair and electric gate repair.
