Incredible honest work. Emil took care of all the repairs needed in order for my garage door to work again. I know I need a new garage door but I can't afford it right now this company was nice enough to fix it instead of hounding me for more money to get a new door. Emil was so nice that he even provided me a price. I was so happy he said I could call him when I had the money and he would honor me the price. amazing company to reach out to.Jasmine · Google review

Doesn't get any better than this guy! I have recently purchased a condo with a broken garage door opener. It was missing some brackets. I called them, and Emil came out promptly the next morning. On time! He was able to run back to his shop and get the bracket I needed. It took him less than an hour to complete the entire project! My garage door works great now. I said a little thank you to Emil as I opened my garage door late last night and drove in my garage. I would definitely call him again if I needed anything done with my garage door. Highly recommend, plus he's just a super nice guy, which the process so much easier. Thanks Emil!Winston · Google review

Talk about the gold standard for superb professional courteous responsive customer service - these guys are always on time, their rates are very reasonable and IMO lowest in town, and their work is always quality - from spring replacements to extra FOB programming & delivery! The owner is the real deal and makes good on all promises - We love doing business with him and don't hesitate to refer this business to all. He's that good!Ryan · Google review
Called the office to let them know my issues and asked if we could get someone out to look at my door. Was told between 11-12...drove home from work at 11:05 and Emil was waiting and ready to get to work. Not knowing anything about how to fix a garage door, Emil did a great job explaining why I was having issues. Quoted a reasonable price (well at least what I thought was reasonable) and less than 40 minute later he had fixed the problem. Great customer service from intake of the call to fixing my door! If you need a garage door repair...support local business and give them your business, you won't be disappointed.Guadalupe · Google review

A small residential city inside a large industrial one
Santa Fe Springs is mostly industrial. Wikipedia describes the economy as largely light industry with many large industrial and manufacturing facilities, and the Census Bureau's 2020-2024 estimates count only about 5,900 housing units and about 18,900 residents. About 58 percent of those homes are detached houses, about 30 percent are in buildings of five or more units, and the median home was built in 1960.
The same estimates put about 61 percent of occupied homes as owner-occupied and 39 percent as rented. Homes built around 1960 have doors, tracks and openers with years of daily use, so we check the whole door when we visit. We repair and replace residential garage doors and openers here, and we can measure an older opening before we order a new door.
The city was incorporated on May 15, 1957. Its name is Spanish for holy faith and was first used for mineral springs bought by the Santa Fe railway in 1886. Oil drilling began in 1907 near Norwalk Boulevard and Telegraph Road, and the 1921 Union-Bell well started an oil rush. In 1962, the Shelby Cobra was developed at a speed shop here.
- Original springs and openers on homes from about 1960
- Rental and owner-occupied houses and townhomes
- Opener upgrades with battery backup

What your garage door is telling you in Santa Fe Springs
A starting point. We confirm the cause on site.
| The door does this | Common cause | What we do |
|---|---|---|
| The door is heavy and will not stay up | A spring has lost tension or broken | Replace the springs as a set and rebalance the door |
| The door jumped off its track | A bent track or a broken roller | Straighten or replace the track, replace rollers, reset the door |
| The opener runs but nothing moves | A stripped gear, broken spring or a disconnected door | Test the opener, repair or replace the failed part |
| The door closes crooked | A stretched or slipped cable | Replace the cable and level the door |
| The remote works only close to the door | A weak battery, receiver or antenna | Replace the battery and test the receiver |
Do not run a door that is crooked or heavy.

What heat and power cuts do to a Santa Fe Springs garage door
Santa Fe Springs has no weather table of its own in our sources, so we use two stations nearby and call it southeast Los Angeles County. The Whittier station, which borders the city to the northeast, shows 1971-2000 average highs near 84 degrees in June and 89 in August, a record of 113 degrees and about 14 inches of rain a year. Long Beach Airport's 1991-2020 normals are cooler, with about 76 degrees in June and 83 in August. Heat dries out lubricant, and rain settles into tracks and bottom seals.
On December 24, 2024, a transformer failure at a Southern California Edison substation in the Downey and Norwalk area cut power to more than 31,000 customers, according to ABC7, and the article also reported outages in Santa Fe Springs, though it said the full extent was unclear. A door opener without a battery backup cannot lift the door in a blackout, so know where the manual-release cord is and test it.
Twice a year, wipe the tracks, oil the rollers and hinges, and press the test button on the battery backup. Check that the two sensors near the floor still face each other.
- Oil rollers and hinges before summer
- Test the battery backup twice a year
- Check the bottom seal after heavy rain

Battery backup, permits and design rules in Santa Fe Springs
Battery backup. California Health and Safety Code section 19892 says residential garage door openers sold or installed in the state need a battery backup, and a replacement garage door cannot be connected to an older residential opener that lacks one. See opener installation.
HOAs and style rules. If you live in a planned community or a historic overlay, check style and color rules before you choose a new door. See new garage doors for styles.
Santa Fe Springs permits. Santa Fe Springs is its own city, so its Building and Safety Division at City Hall, 11710 East Telegraph Road, sets the permit rules, not Los Angeles. The number is 562-868-0511, extension 7560. The city's page lists the permit counter hours as Monday through Thursday, 7:30 to 11:30 a.m. and 2:00 to 4:30 p.m., and says City Hall is closed on Fridays. It says appropriate permits must be obtained before any project, including alterations or repairs, but it does not mention garage doors, so we could not confirm whether a replacement or a new opener needs one. Ask the city before a replacement. See santafesprings.gov.

Santa Fe Springs garage door repair: questions we hear
Is there garage door repair near me in Santa Fe Springs?
Yes. Emil Garage Doors repairs garage doors in Santa Fe Springs (ZIP 90670) and the neighborhoods next door. Call (213) 340-4232, tell us your street or neighborhood and what the door does, and we book the soonest visit. See garage door repair near me.
What is the average price to repair a garage door in Santa Fe Springs?
Typical prices: a 12-point safety inspection is $89, a torsion spring pair for a standard two-car door is $250 to $450 (heavy-duty springs $350 to $900), a cable pair is $175 to $350, and a belt-drive opener installed with battery backup is $550 to $900. The final price is confirmed after we see the door.
What is the most common garage door repair in Santa Fe Springs?
Broken torsion springs are among the most common garage door repairs, because springs wear out after a set number of open-and-close cycles. Cables, rollers, safety sensors and off-track doors follow. See garage door spring repair.
How much is a service call for a garage door?
Our 12-point safety inspection is $89. It covers the springs, cables, rollers, tracks, sensors and opener, and we explain what we find before any repair starts.
Is it cheaper to repair or replace a garage door?
A repair is usually cheaper when the door itself is sound and only a spring, cable, roller or sensor failed. Replacement makes sense when panels are bent or rotted, the door is very old or the opening needs a different size. We tell you which one fits before we start.
Which ZIP code do you serve in Santa Fe Springs?
Santa Fe Springs uses street-delivery ZIP code 90670. ZIP code 90671 is PO-box-only. Call us if you are not sure we reach your address.
Does a garage door replacement need a permit in Santa Fe Springs?
We could not confirm a garage-door-specific permit rule for Santa Fe Springs. The city says permits are needed before any project, including alterations or repairs, so call Building and Safety at 562-868-0511, extension 7560, before a replacement or a new opener. City Hall is closed on Fridays.
Do you work on garage doors in gated communities in Santa Fe Springs?
Call us and tell us the address. According to a developer project page and real-estate listings, Villages at Heritage Springs is a gated master-planned community of two-story homes and townhomes built mostly around 2010 to 2012. We could not confirm its current rules. If your home has an HOA, check with it before a new door goes in.
Can a handyman fix a garage door?
A handyman can handle a simple job like a sensor or a roller. Springs and cables are under high tension and need a trained technician, so call us for those.
Does California require a battery backup on a garage door opener?
Yes. California Health and Safety Code section 19892 says residential openers sold or installed in the state need a battery backup, and a replacement garage door cannot be connected to an older residential opener that lacks one.
Do you also repair gates in Santa Fe Springs?
Yes. See gate repair and electric gate repair.
