Great. Arrived early in the morning with a team of 3 people. They worked steady and finished as it. got. Overall they did everything in a professional manner.Dj · Google review
Great company to use for garage door work. Came out promptly, over a weekend when I could not get others to respond. Efficient work, very knowledgeable, very friendly. I would not hesitate to contact them first the next time I need service.Courtney · Google review
Incredible honest work. Emil took care of all the repairs needed in order for my garage door to work again. I know I need a new garage door but I can't afford it right now this company was nice enough to fix it instead of hounding me for more money to get a new door. Emil was so nice that he even provided me a price. I was so happy he said I could call him when I had the money and he would honor me the price. amazing company to reach out to.Jasmine · Google review
Came out same day I place the request & was very professional and helpful. I’m pleased how quickly he got the job done and the garage door is working great now.Shawntae · Google review
I have been using them for few years. They are professional, reliable (especially in emergencies (springs breaking)), customer service is always polite and helpful, and their prices cannot be beat!!Deborah · Google review
Doesn't get any better than this guy! I have recently purchased a condo with a broken garage door opener. It was missing some brackets. I called them, and Emil came out promptly the next morning. On time! He was able to run back to his shop and get the bracket I needed. It took him less than an hour to complete the entire project! My garage door works great now. I said a little thank you to Emil as I opened my garage door late last night and drove in my garage. I would definitely call him again if I needed anything done with my garage door. Highly recommend, plus he's just a super nice guy, which the process so much easier. Thanks Emil!Winston · Google review

A mostly industrial city with homes in between
Santa Fe Springs is a heavily industrial city, and Wikipedia says its economy is largely light industry. According to the Census Bureau's 2020-2024 American Community Survey estimates, it has about 5,900 housing units, the median home was built in 1960, about 58 percent of units are single-family detached homes and about 61 percent of occupied homes are owner-occupied. Apartments of five or more units make up a large share of the rest.
A developer project page and real-estate listings describe the Villages at Heritage Springs as a gated master-planned community of two-story homes and townhomes built around 2010 to 2012. We could not confirm how many gated communities the city has, so check your association's rules before you change a shared entry.
We repair swing and sliding gates on single-family lots and the operators, keypads and sensors at shared entries, starting with the gate and then testing the controls.

Why gates in Santa Fe Springs stop working
These are the faults we hear about most. The real cause is confirmed on site.
| Symptom | Common cause | What we do |
|---|---|---|
| Gate stuck open or stuck closed | A failed operator, a locked manual release or a power fault | Use the manual release as the maker directs, then diagnose the operator |
| Gate reverses without touching anything | Dirty photo eyes, a bent bracket or a force setting that is too low | Clean and realign the photo eyes and reset the force |
| Gate swings or slides unevenly | A leaf out of level, worn hinges or a loose track | Level the leaf, replace hinges, tighten the track |
| Clicking sound but no movement | A weak battery or a failed starting capacitor | Test the battery and the capacitor and replace the weak one |
| Solar gate stops after a few cycles | A weak panel, an old battery or shade on the panel | Test the panel and the battery, clean or move the panel |
| Remote or keypad gives no response | Dead batteries, a lost code or a receiver fault | Replace batteries, reprogram the code, test the receiver |
Do not run an operator against a gate that is jammed or dragging.

What the local conditions do to a gate
We could not find a climate table for Santa Fe Springs. Wikipedia's table for Whittier, which touches the city on the northeast, lists summer highs of about 84 to 89 degrees and 14.44 inches of rain a year. Heat ages batteries and dries lubricants, and a gate with a tired battery is the first to stop when the power goes out.
ABC7 reported that a transformer failure on December 24, 2024 cut power to more than 31,000 Southern California Edison customers, with reports from Santa Fe Springs as well, though the report said the full extent was unclear. A healthy backup battery and a known manual release keep a gate usable in an outage.
Every six months, test the backup battery, wipe the sensors and make sure the manual release moves freely.
- Test the backup battery twice a year
- Know where the manual release is
- Wipe sensor lenses and clean the track

Permits, HOAs and emergency access in Santa Fe Springs
City permits. Santa Fe Springs Building and Safety is at 11710 E. Telegraph Road, phone (562) 868-0511 extension 7560, and the permit counter runs Monday to Thursday, 7:30 to 11:30 a.m. and 2:00 to 4:30 p.m. City Hall is closed on Fridays. The city's building page, at santafesprings.gov, says permits are required before new construction, remodeling, alterations or repairs, but it does not say whether a gate or an operator needs one. We could not confirm a gate-specific rule, so call before a new gate or new electrical work.
Fire service. A city history page says Santa Fe Springs has its own Fire-Rescue department, so ask it about key switch or Knox box requirements before you change a locked entry.
Fire department access. A locked gate can slow emergency crews. Ask the local fire department what it requires, for example a key switch or Knox box, before you install or change an entry.
Design rules. Planned communities and HOAs can limit gate style, height and color. Ask first, and we can give you a written scope for their review.
Entrapment protection. The UL 325 standard covers automatic gate operators and calls for devices such as photo eyes or contact edges. We test these devices every time we repair an operator.

Santa Fe Springs gate repair: questions we hear
Is there gate repair near me in Santa Fe Springs?
Yes. Emil Garage Doors repairs swing and sliding driveway gates in Santa Fe Springs (ZIP 90670) and the neighborhoods next door. Call (213) 340-4232, tell us your street or neighborhood, the gate type and what it does, and we book the soonest visit. See gate repair near me.
Is there electric gate repair near me in Santa Fe Springs?
Yes. Electric gate repair near me in Santa Fe Springs means a technician who repairs the operator, control board, sensors, remotes and backup battery as well as the gate itself. Call (213) 340-4232 and we book the soonest visit. See electric gate repair.
What is the difference between gate repair and electric gate repair in Santa Fe Springs?
Gate repair means the gate itself: hinges, posts, latches, wheels, tracks and frames. Electric gate repair means the parts that move it: the operator, control board, sensors, remotes, keypads and battery. Most service calls need both checked, so we start with the gate and then test the electronics. See gate repair.
Why does my electric gate hum but not open?
Hum without movement points to a binding gate or a failed capacitor, gear or arm. Keep the operator off, and we free the gate and test the parts.
How much does gate repair cost in Santa Fe Springs?
A sensor, remote or hinge costs far less than an operator or a rebuilt post. We quote after we see the problem and before we start, so you know the price first.
My gate does not work during a power outage. What can I do?
Most operators have a manual release, and many can use a backup battery. Use the release as the manufacturer directs and call us. We test the battery and the control board, because a flat battery or a board that lost its settings after an outage is common.
Should electric gates be serviced?
Yes. A yearly check of the battery, sensors, hinges or track, and operator keeps a gate from failing at a bad time.
Can you repair a gate operator from any brand?
We repair most residential operators. Tell us the brand and model, or send a photo of the unit. If parts are no longer made we explain your options.
Which ZIP code do you serve in Santa Fe Springs?
Santa Fe Springs homes use ZIP code 90670. ZIP 90671 is for PO boxes only. Call us with your address if you are not sure we reach you.
Do you repair gates at townhome and gated communities in Santa Fe Springs?
Yes. We repair the operator, keypad, receiver and sensors at shared entries, but your association decides who may order the work, so check with the manager before you call.
Can a handyman fix a gate?
A handyman can handle a loose latch or a dead remote battery. A failed operator, a control board or a gate that has dropped off its hinges needs a technician who can test the controls and the safety devices.
Do you repair garage doors in Santa Fe Springs too?
Yes. See garage door repair in Santa Fe Springs for springs, cables, openers and new doors, and garage door repair near me. When you ask for both we can look at the gate and the garage door at the same address.
