Single-family houses and a village center tied to the Ames family
According to the Census Bureau's 2020-2024 American Community Survey, Easton has about 9,400 housing units and the median home was built in 1979. About 64 percent are detached single-family houses, about 14 percent are attached houses such as townhomes and about 14 percent are in buildings of five or more units. About 82 percent of households own their home. Doors and openers on 1970s houses are often on a second or third set of springs.
Wikipedia says Easton was settled in 1694 and incorporated in 1725, and that the Ames Shovel Works opened in 1803. The H. H. Richardson Historic District of North Easton includes the Ames Free Library and Oakes Ames Memorial Hall, and the town has Stonehill College. Wikipedia also names the localities North Easton, South Easton, Easton Center, Furnace Village and Eastondale. We found no local historic district, so ask the town if your house is unusual or old.
Tell us your street and how many bays the door covers, and we book the soonest visit. We weigh and balance each door before choosing new springs.

What customers say
Real reviews from our Google listing, copied as the customers wrote them.
Emil is delightful, knowledgeable, professional, and capable. He promised to make the process easy and he did. From our first contact Thursday mid-day through completion of the project Saturday at Noon, everything was 100% perfect, and we are extremely happy. We are amazed when we look outside and see our beautiful new door, so soon after searching on google. Emil and his company deserve 100 stars but we are limited to only 5Dawn · Google review
It went very well, with the job being completed in three days. We waited few months for the supply chain to kick in ( Covid related delays ) and finally deliver the products. It was so worth the wait. Great installers, Emil and his team are professional and friendly, too, and patient in answering questions.Rachel · Google review
We interviewed several popular companies and we found that their quality, price, and level of professionalism is unmatched!Cory · Google review

What Easton weather does to a garage door
We found no weather-station table for the town itself, so these are regional figures from Wikipedia's table for nearby Taunton, which uses 1991-2020 normals: a July mean daily high near 84 degrees, a January mean daily low near 20, about 49 inches of precipitation and about 26 inches of snow a year. Cold stiffens springs, cables and weatherstripping, and road salt corrodes tracks and hardware.
On July 29, 2023 the National Weather Service confirmed an EF-1 tornado on the Foxborough and Easton town line, with winds estimated at 105 mph, and blamed microbursts for damage in Brockton, East Bridgewater and parts of Easton; local reports said two Easton houses had structural damage. Local news also reported that after the March 2018 nor'easter more than 90 percent of the town was without power. Large doors catch wind, so look for a sagging panel or a shifted track after a storm.
Before winter, wipe the tracks, lubricate the rollers and hinges, and test the safety reverse. After a snowfall, clear the ice from the bottom of the door before you run the opener.

Opener safety, permits and design rules in Easton
Safety reverse and sensors. A home garage door opener sold in the United States has to reverse the door on contact and have photo-eye sensors or an equivalent entrapment protection device, under the federal Consumer Product Safety Commission standard (16 CFR part 1211). A door that closes on an object, or an opener with dead sensors, needs repair before further use. See opener installation.
Associations. Check any HOA or historic district rules before you order a new door, and see new garage doors for style options.
City permits. Easton is a town with its own Inspectional Services department at 136 Elm Street, North Easton (508-230-0581). The department's page lists permits for building, roofing, siding, replacement windows, electrical, plumbing, gas and more, but it does not say when a permit is required or mention garage doors, so we could not confirm whether a replacement or an opener swap needs one. Ask the department before the work at easton.ma.us.
State rules. Massachusetts General Laws chapter 142A covers residential contracting (repair, alteration, renovation and improvement) on existing owner-occupied buildings of one to four units and refers to contractors registered under that chapter. The state building code lists work that needs no building permit and says ordinary repairs need no application, but it does not mention garage doors, so the town's answer is the one that counts. The North Easton Historic District and the H. H. Richardson district are federal designations; we could not confirm any town review of garage doors.

Easton garage door repair: questions we hear
Is there garage door repair near me in Easton?
Yes. Emil Garage Doors repairs garage doors in Easton (ZIPs 02356 and 02375) and the neighborhoods next door. Call (617) 644-5527, tell us your street or neighborhood and what the door does, and we book the soonest visit. See garage door repair near me.
What is the average price to repair a garage door in Easton?
Typical prices: a 12-point safety inspection is $89, a torsion spring pair for a standard two-car door is $250 to $450 (heavy-duty springs $350 to $900), a cable pair is $175 to $350, and a belt-drive opener installed with battery backup is $550 to $900. The final price is confirmed after we see the door.
What is the most common garage door repair in Easton?
Broken torsion springs are among the most common garage door repairs, because springs wear out after a set number of open-and-close cycles. Cables, rollers, safety sensors and off-track doors follow. See garage door spring repair.
How much is a service call for a garage door?
Our 12-point safety inspection is $89. It covers the springs, cables, rollers, tracks, sensors and opener, and we explain what we find before any repair starts.
Is it cheaper to repair or replace a garage door?
A repair is usually cheaper when the door itself is sound and only a spring, cable, roller or sensor failed. Replacement makes sense when panels are bent or rotted, the door is very old or the opening needs a different size. We tell you which one fits before we start.
Which ZIP codes do you serve in Easton?
Easton's street ZIP codes are 02356 for North Easton and 02375 for South Easton. 02334 is PO boxes only. Call us if you are not sure we reach your address.
Does Easton require a permit to replace a garage door?
We could not confirm it. Inspectional Services lists many permit types but does not mention garage doors, so call 508-230-0581 before a replacement, and tell us when you call so we can plan the visit.
Can wind damage a garage door in Easton?
Yes. Wind can strain a large door and loosen its hardware, and Easton has had a confirmed tornado on its line with Foxborough and microburst damage. After a storm, look for a door that sticks, a bent panel or a track that has shifted, and call us before you run the opener.
Can a handyman fix a garage door?
A handyman can handle a sensor or a roller. Springs and cables are under high tension and need a trained technician, so we do not recommend fixing them yourself.
How do I test my garage door's safety reverse and sensors?
Close the door with the opener, then lay a 2x4 flat on the floor in the door's path. The door should touch it and reverse. For the sensors, start the door closing and pass a broom handle through the beam near the floor. The door should stop and go back up. If either test fails, stop using the automatic close and call us for a repair.
