Garage Door Repair Cost in Texas: What Each Fix Costs

By Emil Garage Doors · Published November 2, 2026 · 4 min read · Costs and prices

Short answer

Our approved prices run from $89 for a safety inspection to $250 to $450 for a standard torsion spring pair and $175 to $350 for a cable pair. The final price depends on door weight, size, the parts that failed and the opener. We confirm it after we see the door, and the quote should list each part.

These are the approved price ranges for common jobs. They apply to Emil Garage Doors work in Texas as everywhere we work, and they are not state averages. The final price is confirmed after we see the door.

What changes the price

Two doors with the same broken spring can have different prices. A heavy insulated or wood door needs a stronger spring than a light steel one, and a wider door needs more cable. A damaged drum or a bent track turns a simple swap into a larger repair.

Sometimes the quote includes a second fix. A snapped spring can leave a cable frayed or a roller bent, and a good technician checks the rest of the system before they leave.

Springs, cables and openers

Springs and cables are under heavy tension, and replacing them is not a job for a homeowner. Torsion spring work is priced by the pair for a reason: the second spring is the same age as the first. See spring repair and cable repair.

If the opener is the problem, opener repair depends on whether a part can be replaced or the unit is worn out. Our approved range for installation labor alone is $150 to $450.

What a written quote should list

The FTC says a written estimate should include a description of the work to be done, materials, completion date and the price. For a garage door job, that means:

  • Each part by name, such as spring size and cycle rating, cable length, rollers
  • Labor, and anything extra for a heavy or oversized door
  • The job's start and finish, and how you pay
  • What the work covers if the door has a second problem
  • A signed copy with no blank spaces

Compare quotes the right way

The FTC says to get multiple estimates and not to automatically choose the lowest bidder, and to ask for an explanation if the quotes differ a lot. The Texas Department of Insurance advises getting more than one bid or repair estimate and never signing a contract that has blank spaces. Both also warn against paying the whole job up front.

Compare parts and labor line by line, not only the total. A lower total with a lighter spring or no cable check may cost more in the end. If a door was damaged by a storm, see what to do when the power is out for safe handling while you wait.
