According to the Census Bureau's 2020-2024 estimates, the median home in Diamond Bar was built in 1980. About 70 percent of homes are detached single-family houses, about 12 percent are attached townhomes and about 10 percent are in buildings of five or more units, and roughly 77 percent of occupied homes are owner-occupied.
Wikipedia says the name comes from a diamond-over-a-bar cattle brand registered in 1918, that the first houses went up in 1959 and that the city was incorporated on 18 April 1989. Diamond Bar Boulevard, Grand Avenue, Pathfinder Road, Golden Springs Drive and Brea Canyon Road are the main streets, and the 60 and 57 freeways run through the city. The city-owned Diamond Bar Center is at 1600 Grand Avenue.
Houses from around 1980 now have springs and openers more than 40 years old, and townhome garages often share a wall or a driveway with a neighbor. Before a visit, check your HOA's rules if you have one, and tell us if your garage door is one of several in a row.

My garage door spring broke the other evening and I was unable to open my door. I contacted them first thing the next day. They were able to give me an appointment for later in that day. The service technician called prior to arrival as promised & arrived shortly afterwards. He recommended some additional service to the door in addition to the springs which I accepted. The door was repaired in less than 2 hours & now works better than ever. Thank youBrandi · Google review
Great to work with, gave us good advise and very knowledgeable with garage door springs . We could not find anyone to do our repair ASAP as it was a small project, but that did not matter to them. They traveled 2 hours to get the work done. Tech who did our repair was very personable, fast and did an excellent job.Theresa · Google review
I was really happy with the work Emil did for me. He was a responsive communicator, arrived on time, and did a quality job on the repair I needed. I would hire him again without hesitation.Serenity · Google review
Technician, Emil, was prompt and efficient to identify and fix the issues with our garage door. Rest assured that I won’t hesitate to call these folks if repair is needed.MeMee · Google review
Emil responded to my request for service promptly. He scheduled service for the next day and showed up on time. He was friendly and polite. He Immediately identified the problems and fixed them effectively and efficiently. He showed resourcefulness in coming up with a used part for an old door opener control and in coming up with a practical solution for stabilizing the door connection to the opener. Price for the work was very fair. Great company !! Thank you!!Christina · Google review
"Our garage door broke this morning, which was less than ideal. We were certain that it would cost a fortune to get it repaired on a Sunday, assuming it could even happen, but we knew we had to try. I called several companies and only two returned my call. One said that while they could send someone out, it would cost considerably more than if we could wait until Monday. While I appreciated the honesty, again, I wanted it fixed today. The other was Emil Garage Doors. When I had called they said they would call back. I did get a call back from Emil, less than an hour later. Anyway, on to the service. He let me know that it would cost the same to come today or tomorrow, it didn't matter. WOW and WOW again! He said that he could head here in about an hour. Additionally, when I asked him the cost of the various things it could be, what he quoted me were prices that were what the other place wanted to charge me after the service call fee and the hiked up hourly rate for the Sunday call! Upon arrival, he looked at the door, told us a few things that he noticed, and in no way did he ever try to "up-sell" us something we didn't need. He told us our opener was what they use, and top of the line. He replaced the gear drive (maybe that's the name:)) and upgraded our rollers (that was a suggestion, but, one we totally understood and he in no way said we "needed" to). I think he was in and out in 45 minutes at most and our garage door is quieter than before by a TON (thank you rollers) and, more importantly, it works and nobody had to miss work on Monday to make it happen. Thank you so much...I can't recommend your company enough. "Pamela · Google review

Battery backup, permits and design rules in Diamond Bar
Opener law. A battery backup is required on residential openers sold or installed in California (Health and Safety Code section 19892), and a replacement door cannot be connected to an older opener without one. If your opener is old, plan for a new one. See opener installation.
Associations. Check any HOA or historic overlay rules before you order a new door, and see new garage doors for style options.
Diamond Bar Building and Safety. The division is at City Hall, 21810 Copley Drive, phone 909-839-7020, with an inspection line at 909-839-7027 (diamondbarca.gov). The city says building permits are required to erect, modify, remove or repair structures, and its FAQ says renovations usually need one. The page does not mention garage doors or openers and lists no exemptions, so we could not confirm whether a garage door or opener replacement needs a permit. Call 909-839-7020 to confirm.
Fire zone note. The city's Fire Hazard Severity Zones page says CAL FIRE and the State Fire Marshal released updated maps that include one for Diamond Bar, to be adopted by 24 June 2025. It says properties in the High or Very High zones may be subject to California Building Code Chapter 7A and to defensible space rules. We could not read the map or confirm which neighborhoods are in a zone or whether the final ordinance passed, so ask Building and Safety about your address.

Diamond Bar garage door repair: questions we hear
Is there garage door repair near me in Diamond Bar?
Yes. Emil Garage Doors repairs garage doors in Diamond Bar (ZIP 91765 and 91789) and the neighborhoods next door. Call (213) 340-4232, tell us your street or neighborhood and what the door does, and we book the soonest visit. See garage door repair near me.
What is the average price to repair a garage door in Diamond Bar?
Typical prices: a 12-point safety inspection is $89, a torsion spring pair for a standard two-car door is $250 to $450 (heavy-duty springs $350 to $900), a cable pair is $175 to $350, and a belt-drive opener installed with battery backup is $550 to $900. The final price is confirmed after we see the door.
What is the most common garage door repair in Diamond Bar?
Broken torsion springs are among the most common garage door repairs, because springs wear out after a set number of open-and-close cycles. Cables, rollers, safety sensors and off-track doors follow. See garage door spring repair.
How much is a service call for a garage door?
Our 12-point safety inspection is $89. It covers the springs, cables, rollers, tracks, sensors and opener, and we explain what we find before any repair starts.
Is it cheaper to repair or replace a garage door?
A repair is usually cheaper when the door itself is sound and only a spring, cable, roller or sensor failed. Replacement makes sense when panels are bent or rotted, the door is very old or the opening needs a different size. We tell you which one fits before we start.
Which ZIP codes do you serve in Diamond Bar?
Diamond Bar uses ZIP codes 91765 and 91789. ZIP 91789 is shared with Walnut and the City of Industry, so some addresses that read Walnut, CA 91789 are really in Diamond Bar, and some are not. Check your street address, and call us if you are not sure we reach it.
Do you repair garage doors on Diamond Bar townhomes and condos?
Yes. Diamond Bar has a large block of attached townhomes, and many have an HOA. Check your HOA's rules before a replacement, because some associations decide the style and color of the door.
Is Diamond Bar in a high fire hazard zone?
The city's page says updated state maps that include Diamond Bar were to be adopted by 24 June 2025, and that homes in the High or Very High zones may face extra building rules. We could not confirm which neighborhoods are in a zone, so ask Building and Safety at 909-839-7020 about your address.
Can a handyman fix a garage door?
A handyman can usually deal with a misaligned sensor or a worn roller. Springs and cables are under high tension and can cause serious injury, so those jobs belong to a trained technician.
Does California require a battery backup on a garage door opener?
Yes. California Health and Safety Code section 19892 says residential openers sold or installed in the state need a battery backup, and a replacement garage door cannot be connected to an older residential opener that lacks one.
Do you also repair gates in Diamond Bar?
Yes. See gate repair and electric gate repair.
