Loma Linda areas we serve
Areas are described by their landmarks, from local sources. Call if yours is not listed.
| Part of Loma Linda | What is there | What we often see on garage doors |
|---|---|---|
| Around the Civic Center on Barton Road | City Hall and Building and Safety, at 25541 Barton Road | Mixed housing from tracts to townhomes, so we inspect the whole door before we quote |
| Near Loma Linda University and the medical center | The university and Loma Linda University Medical Center, per Wikipedia; about 62 percent of the city's homes are rented, per the Census | Doors in rental homes and apartments, where an owner or manager books the work |
| South Hills, the southern third of the city | A rugged, city-owned open space reserve at the northwest end of the Badlands, per Wikipedia | Homes near the hills, where wind and dust settle on tracks and sensors |
| Newer builder communities such as The Groves and Covenant Point | Listed on Lennar and Trumark marketing pages, which are weaker sources; gated status not verified | Newer doors; check any association's door rules first |

A small city with houses, townhomes and rentals
According to the Census Bureau's 2020-2024 estimates, the median home in Loma Linda was built in 1984. About 38 percent of occupied homes are owner-occupied and about 62 percent are rented, and fewer than half of all homes, about 46 percent, are detached single-family houses. Almost three in ten homes sit in a building with five or more units. Rental homes and apartments often mean an owner or manager books the work, and we are glad to talk to either one.
Wikipedia says the city was incorporated in 1970 and that Loma Linda University and its medical center are the city's main institutions. Lennar and Trumark marketing pages, weaker sources, list The Groves and Covenant Point as newer builder communities. A listing mentions a gated community near the medical center, but it does not name it, so we could not verify any gated or homeowners association status. Check with your association before you order a new door.
A mix of 1970s to 1990s tract homes, townhomes and newer builds means doors of very different ages. We check the springs, cables, rollers and opener together, and for an older opener we price a battery-backup replacement beside the repair.
- Springs and rollers on 1980s doors
- Openers without battery backup

What Loma Linda weather does to a garage door
We found no Loma Linda climate table from an official station. WeatherSpark, a third-party source that does not show its station, puts the average August high at about 95 degrees, with a hot season from about June 20 to September 22, and its monthly rainfall figures add up to roughly 9 inches a year. Long heat dries out lubricant and ages seals and plastic parts.
Wikipedia says San Timoteo Creek overflowed in 1969, flooding about two-thirds of the city, and flooded parts of the city again in 2010. WeatherSpark's windiest period runs from about November 9 to June 22, with December the windiest month at an average of 7 miles an hour. We found no verified Loma Linda record of Santa Ana winds or power outages, so a working battery backup and a manual release you can find are still worth checking.
After a wet spell, check that the bottom seal is not swollen and wipe grit out of the lower track. Twice a year, oil the rollers and hinges and press the test button on the battery backup.
- Clear grit from the lower track after storms
- Test the battery backup twice a year
- Oil rollers and hinges before summer
What customers say
Real reviews from our Google listing, copied as the customers wrote them.
My garage door spring broke the other evening and I was unable to open my door. I contacted them first thing the next day. They were able to give me an appointment for later in that day. The service technician called prior to arrival as promised & arrived shortly afterwards. He recommended some additional service to the door in addition to the springs which I accepted. The door was repaired in less than 2 hours & now works better than ever. Thank youBrandi · Google review
Great to work with, gave us good advise and very knowledgeable with garage door springs . We could not find anyone to do our repair ASAP as it was a small project, but that did not matter to them. They traveled 2 hours to get the work done. Tech who did our repair was very personable, fast and did an excellent job.Theresa · Google review
I was really happy with the work Emil did for me. He was a responsive communicator, arrived on time, and did a quality job on the repair I needed. I would hire him again without hesitation.Serenity · Google review
Technician, Emil, was prompt and efficient to identify and fix the issues with our garage door. Rest assured that I won’t hesitate to call these folks if repair is needed.MeMee · Google review
Emil responded to my request for service promptly. He scheduled service for the next day and showed up on time. He was friendly and polite. He Immediately identified the problems and fixed them effectively and efficiently. He showed resourcefulness in coming up with a used part for an old door opener control and in coming up with a practical solution for stabilizing the door connection to the opener. Price for the work was very fair. Great company !! Thank you!!Christina · Google review
"Our garage door broke this morning, which was less than ideal. We were certain that it would cost a fortune to get it repaired on a Sunday, assuming it could even happen, but we knew we had to try. I called several companies and only two returned my call. One said that while they could send someone out, it would cost considerably more than if we could wait until Monday. While I appreciated the honesty, again, I wanted it fixed today. The other was Emil Garage Doors. When I had called they said they would call back. I did get a call back from Emil, less than an hour later. Anyway, on to the service. He let me know that it would cost the same to come today or tomorrow, it didn't matter. WOW and WOW again! He said that he could head here in about an hour. Additionally, when I asked him the cost of the various things it could be, what he quoted me were prices that were what the other place wanted to charge me after the service call fee and the hiked up hourly rate for the Sunday call! Upon arrival, he looked at the door, told us a few things that he noticed, and in no way did he ever try to "up-sell" us something we didn't need. He told us our opener was what they use, and top of the line. He replaced the gear drive (maybe that's the name:)) and upgraded our rollers (that was a suggestion, but, one we totally understood and he in no way said we "needed" to). I think he was in and out in 45 minutes at most and our garage door is quieter than before by a TON (thank you rollers) and, more importantly, it works and nobody had to miss work on Monday to make it happen. Thank you so much...I can't recommend your company enough. "Pamela · Google review

Opener law. A battery backup is required on residential openers sold or installed in California (Health and Safety Code section 19892), and a replacement door cannot be connected to an older opener without one. If your opener is old, plan for a new one. See opener installation.
Associations. Check any HOA or historic overlay rules before you order a new door, and see new garage doors for style options.
City permits. Loma Linda is its own city, so its rules come from the City of Loma Linda, not Los Angeles. The city website was not readable to us, and search results and a third-party permit guide show Building and Safety at the Civic Center, 25541 Barton Road, with a public counter open only on certain mornings, so confirm the hours first. We could not confirm a garage-door-specific permit rule. Call Building and Safety at (909) 799-2836 to ask whether your job needs a permit.
Fire hazard ordinance. A county public notice file shows that the city has a fire hazard severity zone ordinance, Ordinance 785, but we could not read it, so we do not know its date or boundaries. According to our check of CAL FIRE's 2011 map layer, a good part of the South Hills falls in a Very High zone; that is a rough check of ours, not an official figure, and we did not check the 2025 maps. If your home is in or near the South Hills, ask the city which rules apply.

Loma Linda garage door repair: questions we hear
Is there garage door repair near me in Loma Linda?
Yes. Emil Garage Doors repairs garage doors in Loma Linda (ZIP 92354 and 92373) and the neighborhoods next door. Call (213) 340-4232, tell us your street or neighborhood and what the door does, and we book the soonest visit. See garage door repair near me.
What is the average price to repair a garage door in Loma Linda?
Typical prices: a 12-point safety inspection is $89, a torsion spring pair for a standard two-car door is $250 to $450 (heavy-duty springs $350 to $900), a cable pair is $175 to $350, and a belt-drive opener installed with battery backup is $550 to $900. The final price is confirmed after we see the door.
What is the most common garage door repair in Loma Linda?
Broken torsion springs are among the most common garage door repairs, because springs wear out after a set number of open-and-close cycles. Cables, rollers, safety sensors and off-track doors follow. See garage door spring repair.
How much is a service call for a garage door?
Our 12-point safety inspection is $89. It covers the springs, cables, rollers, tracks, sensors and opener, and we explain what we find before any repair starts.
Is it cheaper to repair or replace a garage door?
A repair is usually cheaper when the door itself is sound and only a spring, cable, roller or sensor failed. Replacement makes sense when panels are bent or rotted, the door is very old or the opening needs a different size. We tell you which one fits before we start.
Which ZIP codes do you serve in Loma Linda?
Loma Linda homes use ZIP code 92354 and, for part of the city, 92373. ZIP code 92373 is shared with Redlands, so call us with your street and we confirm we reach it. We also serve nearby San Bernardino, Colton and Redlands.
Does a garage door replacement in Loma Linda need a permit?
We could not confirm a garage-door-specific permit rule for Loma Linda. We found no official handout on garage doors. Call Loma Linda Building and Safety at (909) 799-2836 to ask whether your door or opener work needs a permit, and confirm the public counter hours.
Do fire rules affect a garage door in the South Hills of Loma Linda?
We could not confirm that. The city has a fire hazard severity zone ordinance, but we could not read it. If your home is in or near the South Hills, ask Loma Linda Building and Safety which rules apply before you order a new door.
Can a handyman fix a garage door?
A handyman can often handle a simple job such as a sensor or a roller. Springs and cables are under high tension and need a trained technician, so call us for those.
Does California require a battery backup on a garage door opener?
Yes. California Health and Safety Code section 19892 says residential openers sold or installed in the state need a battery backup, and a replacement garage door cannot be connected to an older residential opener that lacks one.
Do you also repair gates in Loma Linda?
Yes. See gate repair and electric gate repair.
