Master-planned tracts from the 1990s to the 2010s
According to the Census Bureau's 2020-2024 estimates, the median home in Murrieta was built in 2001. About 68 percent of occupied homes are owner-occupied, about 71 percent of all homes are detached houses, and roughly one in seven sits in a building with five or more units. Most doors here are not antique, but a door that has run twice a day for twenty years is close to the end of what its springs were rated for.
Wikipedia describes Murrieta as incorporated in 1991, with Interstate 15 through the western part of the city and Interstate 215 through the east. Listing sites describe Bear Creek as a guard-gated golf community of about 620 homes run by a master association, and the city's own planning record calls the Copper Canyon Specific Plan a master-planned, mostly single-family development with an 18-hole golf course. We could not verify which tracts have associations or what they require for a door.
Tract homes often have wide two- and three-car doors, and several neighbors may have the same model. Tell us the cross street, how many doors you have and what the door does, and we book the soonest visit. We weigh and balance each door before choosing springs.
- Springs near their rated cycles on 2000s doors
- Wide doors on two- and three-car garages
- Opener replacement with battery backup

What customers say
Real reviews from our Google listing, copied as the customers wrote them.
Technician, Emil, was prompt and efficient to identify and fix the issues with our garage door. Rest assured that I won’t hesitate to call these folks if repair is needed.MeMee · Google review
Emil responded to my request for service promptly. He scheduled service for the next day and showed up on time. He was friendly and polite. He Immediately identified the problems and fixed them effectively and efficiently. He showed resourcefulness in coming up with a used part for an old door opener control and in coming up with a practical solution for stabilizing the door connection to the opener. Price for the work was very fair. Great company !! Thank you!!Christina · Google review
"Our garage door broke this morning, which was less than ideal. We were certain that it would cost a fortune to get it repaired on a Sunday, assuming it could even happen, but we knew we had to try. I called several companies and only two returned my call. One said that while they could send someone out, it would cost considerably more than if we could wait until Monday. While I appreciated the honesty, again, I wanted it fixed today. The other was Emil Garage Doors. When I had called they said they would call back. I did get a call back from Emil, less than an hour later. Anyway, on to the service. He let me know that it would cost the same to come today or tomorrow, it didn't matter. WOW and WOW again! He said that he could head here in about an hour. Additionally, when I asked him the cost of the various things it could be, what he quoted me were prices that were what the other place wanted to charge me after the service call fee and the hiked up hourly rate for the Sunday call! Upon arrival, he looked at the door, told us a few things that he noticed, and in no way did he ever try to "up-sell" us something we didn't need. He told us our opener was what they use, and top of the line. He replaced the gear drive (maybe that's the name:)) and upgraded our rollers (that was a suggestion, but, one we totally understood and he in no way said we "needed" to). I think he was in and out in 45 minutes at most and our garage door is quieter than before by a TON (thank you rollers) and, more importantly, it works and nobody had to miss work on Monday to make it happen. Thank you so much...I can't recommend your company enough. "Pamela · Google review
Emil is delightful, knowledgeable, professional, and capable. He promised to make the process easy and he did. From our first contact Thursday mid-day through completion of the project Saturday at Noon, everything was 100% perfect, and we are extremely happy. We are amazed when we look outside and see our beautiful new door, so soon after searching on google. Emil and his company deserve 100 stars but we are limited to only 5Dawn · Google review
It went very well, with the job being completed in three days. We waited few months for the supply chain to kick in ( Covid related delays ) and finally deliver the products. It was so worth the wait. Great installers, Emil and his team are professional and friendly, too, and patient in answering questions.Rachel · Google review
We interviewed several popular companies and we found that their quality, price, and level of professionalism is unmatched!Cory · Google review

What Murrieta weather does to a garage door
Wikipedia's climate box, which credits weathercurrents.com and does not name a station, puts the July and August average daily high at 91 degrees and annual precipitation at 15.56 inches, at an elevation of about 1,096 feet. We did not verify a record high or an outage count. Summer heat dries out lubricant and ages the rubber seal along the bottom of the door.
The City of Murrieta posted a notice dated June 15, 2025 that parts of the city might lose power under a Southern California Edison public safety power shutoff from June 16 to June 17, 2025, and it did not name neighborhoods. A Patch report from December 2024 says about 9,000 Riverside County customers near Temecula lost power ahead of Santa Ana winds. A fire in December 2017 burned about 100 acres in Murrieta, according to LAist. When the power is off, use the manual release, and if you suspect a broken spring, do not lift the door by hand.
Twice a year, wipe the tracks, oil the rollers and hinges and press the test button on the battery backup. Check that the manual release cord is within reach.
- Know where the manual release is
- Test the battery backup twice a year
- Oil rollers and hinges before summer

Battery backup, permits and design rules in Murrieta
Battery backup. California requires a battery backup on residential garage door openers sold or installed in the state (Health and Safety Code section 19892). A new door cannot be connected to an older opener that lacks one. See opener installation.
Design rules. Planned communities and historic overlays can limit door style and color. Ask before you choose a new door: new garage doors.
City permits. Murrieta is its own city, so its rules come from the City of Murrieta, not Riverside County. Building and Safety is at 1 Town Square, and the city's Information Bulletin IB-131, "Permits Required" (May 2024), prints the phone number 951-461-6062. The bulletin quotes the building code on when a permit is needed and lists exemptions such as sheds up to 120 square feet and minor repair work, but it does not mention garage doors or openers. We could not confirm a garage-door-specific rule, so ask Building and Safety before a full replacement or a new opener, at murrietaca.gov.
Fire hazard zones and associations. The city adopted updated Fire Hazard Severity Zone maps effective July 4, 2025, and it has an address lookup map on its site. We could not verify which streets are in the High or Very High zones. Homeowners associations are not city-regulated, so check your association's architectural rules before you order a new door.

Murrieta garage door repair: questions we hear
Is there garage door repair near me in Murrieta?
Yes. Emil Garage Doors repairs garage doors in Murrieta (ZIP 92562 and 92563) and the neighborhoods next door. Call (213) 340-4232, tell us your street or neighborhood and what the door does, and we book the soonest visit. See garage door repair near me.
What is the average price to repair a garage door in Murrieta?
Typical prices: a 12-point safety inspection is $89, a torsion spring pair for a standard two-car door is $250 to $450 (heavy-duty springs $350 to $900), a cable pair is $175 to $350, and a belt-drive opener installed with battery backup is $550 to $900. The final price is confirmed after we see the door.
What is the most common garage door repair in Murrieta?
Broken torsion springs are among the most common garage door repairs, because springs wear out after a set number of open-and-close cycles. Cables, rollers, safety sensors and off-track doors follow. See garage door spring repair.
How much is a service call for a garage door?
Our 12-point safety inspection is $89. It covers the springs, cables, rollers, tracks, sensors and opener, and we explain what we find before any repair starts.
Is it cheaper to repair or replace a garage door?
A repair is usually cheaper when the door itself is sound and only a spring, cable, roller or sensor failed. Replacement makes sense when panels are bent or rotted, the door is very old or the opening needs a different size. We tell you which one fits before we start.
Which ZIP codes do you serve in Murrieta?
Murrieta homes use ZIP codes 92562 and 92563, according to zip-codes.com. ZIP code 92564 is for PO boxes only. ZIP 92562 also lists Wildomar as an alias, and both ZIPs reach beyond the city limits, for example into French Valley, so call us with your street and we confirm we reach it. We also serve nearby Temecula, Wildomar and Menifee.
Does a garage door replacement in Murrieta need a permit?
We could not confirm a garage-door-specific permit rule for Murrieta. The city's permit bulletin does not mention garage doors or openers. Call Murrieta Building and Safety at 951-461-6062 to ask whether your door or opener work needs one.
Does my Murrieta HOA control my garage door?
We could not verify any association's rules. Listing sites say some Murrieta communities, such as Bear Creek, have master associations. Many associations review the color and style of a replacement door, so ask yours for its guidelines before you order.
Can a handyman fix a garage door?
A handyman can often handle a simple job such as a sensor or a roller. Springs and cables are under high tension and need a trained technician, so call us for those.
Does California require a battery backup on a garage door opener?
Yes. California Health and Safety Code section 19892 says residential openers sold or installed in the state need a battery backup, and a replacement garage door cannot be connected to an older residential opener that lacks one.
Do you also repair gates in Murrieta?
Yes. See gate repair and electric gate repair.
