What customers say
Real reviews from our Google listing, copied as the customers wrote them.
Emil responded to my request for service promptly. He scheduled service for the next day and showed up on time. He was friendly and polite. He Immediately identified the problems and fixed them effectively and efficiently. He showed resourcefulness in coming up with a used part for an old door opener control and in coming up with a practical solution for stabilizing the door connection to the opener. Price for the work was very fair. Great company !! Thank you!!Christina · Google review
"Our garage door broke this morning, which was less than ideal. We were certain that it would cost a fortune to get it repaired on a Sunday, assuming it could even happen, but we knew we had to try. I called several companies and only two returned my call. One said that while they could send someone out, it would cost considerably more than if we could wait until Monday. While I appreciated the honesty, again, I wanted it fixed today. The other was Emil Garage Doors. When I had called they said they would call back. I did get a call back from Emil, less than an hour later. Anyway, on to the service. He let me know that it would cost the same to come today or tomorrow, it didn't matter. WOW and WOW again! He said that he could head here in about an hour. Additionally, when I asked him the cost of the various things it could be, what he quoted me were prices that were what the other place wanted to charge me after the service call fee and the hiked up hourly rate for the Sunday call! Upon arrival, he looked at the door, told us a few things that he noticed, and in no way did he ever try to "up-sell" us something we didn't need. He told us our opener was what they use, and top of the line. He replaced the gear drive (maybe that's the name:)) and upgraded our rollers (that was a suggestion, but, one we totally understood and he in no way said we "needed" to). I think he was in and out in 45 minutes at most and our garage door is quieter than before by a TON (thank you rollers) and, more importantly, it works and nobody had to miss work on Monday to make it happen. Thank you so much...I can't recommend your company enough. "Pamela · Google review
Emil is delightful, knowledgeable, professional, and capable. He promised to make the process easy and he did. From our first contact Thursday mid-day through completion of the project Saturday at Noon, everything was 100% perfect, and we are extremely happy. We are amazed when we look outside and see our beautiful new door, so soon after searching on google. Emil and his company deserve 100 stars but we are limited to only 5Dawn · Google review
It went very well, with the job being completed in three days. We waited few months for the supply chain to kick in ( Covid related delays ) and finally deliver the products. It was so worth the wait. Great installers, Emil and his team are professional and friendly, too, and patient in answering questions.Rachel · Google review
We interviewed several popular companies and we found that their quality, price, and level of professionalism is unmatched!Cory · Google review

Detached houses, townhomes and apartments beside the Ten Mile River
According to the Census Bureau's 2020-2024 American Community Survey, North Attleborough has about 13,200 housing units and the median home was built in 1974. About 56 percent are detached single-family houses, about 9 percent are attached houses, about 6 percent are two-family houses, about 10 percent are three- or four-unit buildings and about 16 percent are in buildings of five or more units. About 72 percent of households own their home. Doors and openers from the 1970s are often on a second set of springs or due for one.
Wikipedia says John Woodcock founded a settlement here in 1669, that East Attleborough seceded in 1887 and took the Attleborough name, and that the rest became North Attleborough. It lists jewelry and button making as long-time industries, Emerald Square mall, and the North Attleborough Town Center and Attleborough Falls historic districts. We could not confirm any local review of garage doors in them, so ask the town if your house is in one.
Tell us your street and whether the garage is attached, detached or under a two-family, and we book the soonest visit. We weigh and balance each door before choosing new springs.

What your garage door is telling you in North Attleborough
A starting point. We confirm the cause on site.
| The door does this | Common cause | What we do |
|---|---|---|
| The door is heavy and will not stay up | A spring has lost tension or broken | Replace the springs as a set and rebalance the door |
| The door jumped off its track | A bent track or a broken roller | Straighten or replace the track, replace rollers, reset the door |
| The opener runs but nothing moves | A stripped gear, broken spring or a disconnected door | Test the opener, repair or replace the failed part |
| The door closes crooked | A stretched or slipped cable | Replace the cable and level the door |
| The remote works only close to the door | A weak battery, receiver or antenna | Replace the battery and test the receiver |
Do not run a door that is crooked or heavy.

What North Attleborough weather does to a garage door
We found no weather-station table for the town itself, so these are regional figures from Wikipedia's table for nearby Taunton, which uses 1991-2020 normals: a July mean daily high near 84 degrees, a January mean daily low near 20, about 49 inches of precipitation and about 26 inches of snow a year. Cold stiffens springs, cables and weatherstripping, and road salt corrodes tracks and hardware.
On September 11, 2023 flash flooding hit North Attleborough. CBS Boston reported that the town said about 200 homes had flood damage, and the fire department answered 145 calls for flooding and water issues; Hoppin Hill Avenue and Old Post Road were among the closed roads. If water reaches garage level, keep the opener switched off until the door, motor and wiring are dry and checked, and call us to inspect them.
Before winter, wipe the tracks, lubricate the rollers and hinges, and test the safety reverse. After a snowfall, clear the ice from the bottom of the door before you run the opener.
- Do not run the opener after a flood
- Know where the manual release is
- Clear ice from the bottom seal

Opener safety, permits and design rules in North Attleborough
Opener safety. Federal rules (the Consumer Product Safety Commission's standard for automatic residential garage door operators, 16 CFR part 1211) require openers made for homes to reverse the door when it meets an obstruction and to have a separate entrapment protection device, which on most openers is the pair of photo-eye sensors near the floor. If your opener ignores the sensors or does not reverse, stop using it and call us. See opener installation.
HOAs and style rules. If you live in a planned community or a historic district, check style and color rules before you choose a new door. See new garage doors for styles.
City permits. North Attleborough is a town with its own Building Department at 43 South Washington Street, Upper Level (508-699-0100, extension 2527). Applicants register on the town's online permitting system, and the department's page lists a Home Improvement Contractor Law supplement to the permit application. It does not say which work needs a permit or mention garage doors, so we could not confirm whether a replacement or an opener swap needs one. Ask the department before the work at northattleborough.gov.
State rules. Massachusetts General Laws chapter 142A covers residential contracting (repair, alteration, renovation and improvement) on existing owner-occupied buildings of one to four units and refers to contractors registered under that chapter. The state building code lists work that needs no building permit and says ordinary repairs need no application, but it does not mention garage doors, so the town's answer is the one that counts.

North Attleborough garage door repair: questions we hear
Is there garage door repair near me in North Attleborough?
Yes. Emil Garage Doors repairs garage doors in North Attleborough (ZIPs 02760 and 02763) and the neighborhoods next door. Call (617) 644-5527, tell us your street or neighborhood and what the door does, and we book the soonest visit. See garage door repair near me.
What is the average price to repair a garage door in North Attleborough?
Typical prices: a 12-point safety inspection is $89, a torsion spring pair for a standard two-car door is $250 to $450 (heavy-duty springs $350 to $900), a cable pair is $175 to $350, and a belt-drive opener installed with battery backup is $550 to $900. The final price is confirmed after we see the door.
What is the most common garage door repair in North Attleborough?
Broken torsion springs are among the most common garage door repairs, because springs wear out after a set number of open-and-close cycles. Cables, rollers, safety sensors and off-track doors follow. See garage door spring repair.
How much is a service call for a garage door?
Our 12-point safety inspection is $89. It covers the springs, cables, rollers, tracks, sensors and opener, and we explain what we find before any repair starts.
Is it cheaper to repair or replace a garage door?
A repair is usually cheaper when the door itself is sound and only a spring, cable, roller or sensor failed. Replacement makes sense when panels are bent or rotted, the door is very old or the opening needs a different size. We tell you which one fits before we start.
Which ZIP codes do you serve in North Attleborough?
North Attleborough's street ZIP codes are 02760 and 02763, the latter for Attleborough Falls. 02761 is PO boxes only. Call us if you are not sure we reach your address.
Does North Attleborough require a permit to replace a garage door?
We could not confirm it. The Building Department's page does not mention garage doors, so call 508-699-0100, extension 2527, before a replacement, and tell us when you call so we can plan the visit.
What should I do after a flood in North Attleborough?
Keep the opener switched off until the garage is dry. Water can damage the motor, the wiring and the sensors, so call us to inspect the door and opener before you use them.
Can a handyman fix a garage door?
A handyman can handle a sensor or a roller. Springs and cables are under high tension and need a trained technician, so we do not recommend fixing them yourself.
How do I test my garage door's safety reverse and sensors?
Close the door with the opener, then lay a 2x4 flat on the floor in the door's path. The door should touch it and reverse. For the sensors, start the door closing and pass a broom handle through the beam near the floor. The door should stop and go back up. If either test fails, stop using the automatic close and call us for a repair.
