What Corinth weather does to a garage door
Wikipedia gives no climate table for Corinth. For nearby Denton it lists summer highs of 91 to 96 degrees, a January average low of 33 and a record low of minus 6 on February 16, 2021. Heat wears springs, cables and seals, and a hard freeze stiffens the lubricant on rollers and hinges.
The National Weather Service rated the tornado that hit Corinth on November 17, 2015 as EF-1, with winds of 85 to 95 mph on a path about half a mile long. NBC DFW reported that the storm destroyed garage doors and damaged a car wash and the Kensington Square shopping center. Wind that strong can push a door out of its track, and the February 2021 winter storm showed why the manual release matters when power goes out.
Twice a year, wipe the tracks, lubricate the rollers and hinges, and test the safety reverse. After a storm, check the track and panels before you run the opener.
- Check the track after high wind
- Lubricate rollers and hinges twice a year
- Know where the manual release is

Late-1990s and 2000s subdivisions around the lake cities
According to the Census Bureau's 2024 five-year American Community Survey, Corinth has about 8,870 housing units. About 85 percent are single-family detached houses, about 77 percent of occupied homes are owner-occupied and the median year built is 1997. That puts many original doors and openers at 15 to 30 years old, the age when springs, cables and openers are most often replaced.
Oakmont is the most often named community, and its country club sits inside the city limits. Listings also name Braemont at Oakmont, Ashford Park, Amherst, Oak Ridge Park and Meadow Oaks. Corinth is split between Lake Dallas and Denton school districts, and Agora is the planned downtown area near the city center. We could not verify association rules, so ask your association before you change a door.
Tell us your cross street and whether the door is a single, a double or a pair, and we book the soonest visit. We weigh and balance each door before choosing new springs.

What customers say
Real reviews from our Google listing, copied as the customers wrote them.
Great to work with, gave us good advise and very knowledgeable with garage door springs . We could not find anyone to do our repair ASAP as it was a small project, but that did not matter to them. They traveled 2 hours to get the work done. Tech who did our repair was very personable, fast and did an excellent job.Theresa · Google review
I was really happy with the work Emil did for me. He was a responsive communicator, arrived on time, and did a quality job on the repair I needed. I would hire him again without hesitation.Serenity · Google review
Technician, Emil, was prompt and efficient to identify and fix the issues with our garage door. Rest assured that I won’t hesitate to call these folks if repair is needed.MeMee · Google review
Emil responded to my request for service promptly. He scheduled service for the next day and showed up on time. He was friendly and polite. He Immediately identified the problems and fixed them effectively and efficiently. He showed resourcefulness in coming up with a used part for an old door opener control and in coming up with a practical solution for stabilizing the door connection to the opener. Price for the work was very fair. Great company !! Thank you!!Christina · Google review
"Our garage door broke this morning, which was less than ideal. We were certain that it would cost a fortune to get it repaired on a Sunday, assuming it could even happen, but we knew we had to try. I called several companies and only two returned my call. One said that while they could send someone out, it would cost considerably more than if we could wait until Monday. While I appreciated the honesty, again, I wanted it fixed today. The other was Emil Garage Doors. When I had called they said they would call back. I did get a call back from Emil, less than an hour later. Anyway, on to the service. He let me know that it would cost the same to come today or tomorrow, it didn't matter. WOW and WOW again! He said that he could head here in about an hour. Additionally, when I asked him the cost of the various things it could be, what he quoted me were prices that were what the other place wanted to charge me after the service call fee and the hiked up hourly rate for the Sunday call! Upon arrival, he looked at the door, told us a few things that he noticed, and in no way did he ever try to "up-sell" us something we didn't need. He told us our opener was what they use, and top of the line. He replaced the gear drive (maybe that's the name:)) and upgraded our rollers (that was a suggestion, but, one we totally understood and he in no way said we "needed" to). I think he was in and out in 45 minutes at most and our garage door is quieter than before by a TON (thank you rollers) and, more importantly, it works and nobody had to miss work on Monday to make it happen. Thank you so much...I can't recommend your company enough. "Pamela · Google review
Emil is delightful, knowledgeable, professional, and capable. He promised to make the process easy and he did. From our first contact Thursday mid-day through completion of the project Saturday at Noon, everything was 100% perfect, and we are extremely happy. We are amazed when we look outside and see our beautiful new door, so soon after searching on google. Emil and his company deserve 100 stars but we are limited to only 5Dawn · Google review

What your garage door is telling you in Corinth
A starting point. We confirm the cause on site.
| The door does this | Common cause | What we do |
|---|---|---|
| The door is heavy and will not stay up | A spring has lost tension or broken | Replace the springs as a set and rebalance the door |
| The door jumped off its track | A bent track or a broken roller | Straighten or replace the track, replace rollers, reset the door |
| The opener runs but nothing moves | A stripped gear, broken spring or a disconnected door | Test the opener, repair or replace the failed part |
| The door closes crooked | A stretched or slipped cable | Replace the cable and level the door |
| The remote works only close to the door | A weak battery, receiver or antenna | Replace the battery and test the receiver |
Do not run a door that is crooked or heavy.
Opener safety, permits and design rules in Corinth
Opener safety. Federal rules (the Consumer Product Safety Commission's standard for automatic residential garage door operators, 16 CFR part 1211) require openers made for homes to reverse the door when it meets an obstruction and to have a separate entrapment protection device, which on most openers is the pair of photo-eye sensors near the floor. If your opener ignores the sensors or does not reverse, stop using it and call us. See opener installation.
HOAs and style rules. If you live in a planned community or a historic district, check style and color rules before you choose a new door. See new garage doors for styles.
City permits. Corinth is its own city. Building Services is at City Hall, 3300 Corinth Parkway, phone (940) 498-3207, and permits are applied for online. The city says it follows the 2021 International Building Code and the 2020 National Electrical Code, and that a permit is required for any major construction in the city. Its permit FAQ does not mention garage doors or openers, so we could not confirm whether a garage door replacement needs a permit. Ask Building Services before the work at corinthtx.gov.
Texas rules. We found no Texas statewide license for garage door contractors. A Texas Department of Public Safety page dated 2020 says installing garage door or gate openers needs no DPS license unless the opener is connected to an alarm system or can log who comes and goes.

Corinth garage door repair: questions we hear
Is there garage door repair near me in Corinth?
Yes. Emil Garage Doors repairs garage doors in Corinth (ZIP 76210) and the neighborhoods next door. Call (214) 382-3772, tell us your street or neighborhood and what the door does, and we book the soonest visit. See garage door repair near me.
What is the average price to repair a garage door in Corinth?
Typical prices: a 12-point safety inspection is $89, a torsion spring pair for a standard two-car door is $250 to $450 (heavy-duty springs $350 to $900), a cable pair is $175 to $350, and a belt-drive opener installed with battery backup is $550 to $900. The final price is confirmed after we see the door.
What is the most common garage door repair in Corinth?
Broken torsion springs are among the most common garage door repairs, because springs wear out after a set number of open-and-close cycles. Cables, rollers, safety sensors and off-track doors follow. See garage door spring repair.
How much is a service call for a garage door?
Our 12-point safety inspection is $89. It covers the springs, cables, rollers, tracks, sensors and opener, and we explain what we find before any repair starts.
Is it cheaper to repair or replace a garage door?
A repair is usually cheaper when the door itself is sound and only a spring, cable, roller or sensor failed. Replacement makes sense when panels are bent or rotted, the door is very old or the opening needs a different size. We tell you which one fits before we start.
Which ZIP codes do you serve in Corinth?
Corinth uses ZIP codes 76210 and 76208, and City Hall is in 76208. Which streets use which code is not clear, so tell us your street address when you call and we confirm we reach it.
Do you repair garage doors after a storm in Corinth?
Yes. A tornado in November 2015 destroyed garage doors in Corinth, and wind and hail can bend tracks or dent panels. We inspect the track, panels, springs and opener, explain what we find and quote the price before we start.
Do you also serve Lake Dallas and Hickory Creek?
Yes. Lake Dallas, Hickory Creek and Shady Shores are next to Corinth, and we serve them as well as nearby Denton.
Can a handyman fix a garage door?
A handyman can handle a sensor or a roller. Springs and cables are under high tension and need a trained technician, so we do not recommend fixing them yourself.
How do I test my garage door's safety reverse and sensors?
Close the door with the opener, then lay a 2x4 flat on the floor in the door's path. The door should touch it and reverse. For the sensors, start the door closing and pass a broom handle through the beam near the floor. The door should stop and go back up. If either test fails, stop using the automatic close and call us for a repair.
