I woke up to a loud crash when a tree in my front yard fell over and hit my garage door. Emil Garage Doors was able to give be a really good price on a new garage door. They uninstalled the old, damaged door and realigned the tracks the garage door connects to which had been damaged as well. The new door looks great and most importantly functions well. Thank you for going above and beyond in my time of need!Stuart · Google review

They were able to come within a few hours of my call. Another company could only give me a 4 hour window of arrival time the next day, but these guys was able to give me a 2 hour window the same day. One the guys called before arriving. He was friendly and competent in explaining the problem and our options. I was so grateful he had replacement springs and was able to fix our garage door in less than an hour.David · Google review

Not paying attention I closed the garage door on a pipe laying in the track. Needless to say it did some damage even though the automatic reverse opened the door back up. Emailed what happened on Sunday evening. Appointment with quote provided in just a few minutes and appointment confirmed. Once again they arrived on time. Completed repairs quickly and for less then the quote. Cleaned up like they were never there. I highly recommend them and will continue to use them for my garage door repairs.Carroll · Google review

My garage door spring broke the other evening and I was unable to open my door. I contacted them first thing the next day. They were able to give me an appointment for later in that day. The service technician called prior to arrival as promised & arrived shortly afterwards. He recommended some additional service to the door in addition to the springs which I accepted. The door was repaired in less than 2 hours & now works better than ever. Thank youBrandi · Google review

Newer subdivisions around Lewisville Lake

Little Elm grew from 3,646 people in 2000 to 46,453 in 2020, according to Wikipedia. The Census Bureau's 2024 five-year American Community Survey counts about 19,778 housing units, about 74 percent of them single-family detached houses, and about 70 percent of occupied homes are owner-occupied. The median year built is 2011, so almost every home is newer than 2000 and most doors and openers are under 15 years old.

Union Park is a Hillwood master-planned community of about 787 acres with a central 35-acre park, and Spiritas Ranch is a roughly 545-acre community by the lake, according to published project descriptions. Most new subdivisions here have homeowner associations, so ask yours about door rules before a replacement.

What Little Elm weather does to a garage door

Wikipedia gives Little Elm a humid subtropical climate with about 33.5 inches of precipitation a year, wettest in April and May. For heat and cold, nearby Frisco's page shows a July high near 96 degrees and a January low near 33. Heat wears springs, cables and weatherstripping.

A tornado warning covered Frisco, Little Elm and Prosper in March 2024. A crowd-sourced weather report site logged 64 mph wind gusts in Little Elm in May 2025 and 1.25-inch hail in September 2025; these are reports, not damage assessments. Strong wind can push a light door out of its track, and the February 2021 winter storm caused rolling blackouts across Texas, so know where your manual release is.

Twice a year, wipe the tracks, lubricate the rollers and hinges, and test the safety reverse. After a storm, look at the tracks and panels before you run the opener.

  • Check tracks after high wind
  • Lubricate rollers and hinges twice a year

Rules to know

Opener safety, permits and design rules in Little Elm

Opener safety. The federal standard for residential garage door operators (Consumer Product Safety Commission, 16 CFR part 1211) calls for automatic reversing and entrapment protection such as photo-eye sensors. If yours stopped working, we test the reverse and the sensors and repair or replace what failed. See opener installation.

Design rules. Planned communities and historic districts can limit door style and color. Ask before you choose a new door: new garage doors.

City permits. Little Elm is a home-rule town with its own government, and permits go through the Town's MyGov Permits page at littleelm.gov. Town Hall is at 100 W. Eldorado Parkway. We found conflicting phone numbers for the Building Safety Division and none we could verify, so use the number on the Town's site. A third-party guide says permits are needed for repairs and alterations to buildings, but we could not confirm a garage-door-specific rule. Ask the town before the work.

Texas rules. We found no Texas statewide license for garage door contractors. A Texas Department of Public Safety page dated 2020 says installing door or gate operators needs no DPS license unless the operator is connected to an alarm system or can log who comes and goes.

FAQ

Little Elm garage door repair: questions we hear

Is there garage door repair near me in Little Elm?

Yes. Emil Garage Doors repairs garage doors in Little Elm (ZIP 75068) and the neighborhoods next door. Call (214) 382-3772, tell us your street or neighborhood and what the door does, and we book the soonest visit. See garage door repair near me.

What is the average price to repair a garage door in Little Elm?

Typical prices: a 12-point safety inspection is $89, a torsion spring pair for a standard two-car door is $250 to $450 (heavy-duty springs $350 to $900), a cable pair is $175 to $350, and a belt-drive opener installed with battery backup is $550 to $900. The final price is confirmed after we see the door.

What is the most common garage door repair in Little Elm?

Broken torsion springs are among the most common garage door repairs, because springs wear out after a set number of open-and-close cycles. Cables, rollers, safety sensors and off-track doors follow. See garage door spring repair.

How much is a service call for a garage door?

Our 12-point safety inspection is $89. It covers the springs, cables, rollers, tracks, sensors and opener, and we explain what we find before any repair starts.

Is it cheaper to repair or replace a garage door?

A repair is usually cheaper when the door itself is sound and only a spring, cable, roller or sensor failed. Replacement makes sense when panels are bent or rotted, the door is very old or the opening needs a different size. We tell you which one fits before we start.

Which ZIP codes do you serve in Little Elm?

Little Elm uses ZIP codes 75068 and 76227. Both also serve neighboring towns such as Oak Point, Lakewood Village, Cross Roads and Providence Village, so give us your cross street when you call and we confirm we reach you.

Do you service garage doors in Union Park and Spiritas Ranch?

Yes. These are newer master-planned communities, and most new subdivisions in Little Elm have homeowner associations. Check your association's rules on door style and color before you choose a new door, and tell us when you call so we can plan the visit.

Do you repair garage doors after a storm in Little Elm?

Yes. Strong wind can push a light door out of its track and hail can dent steel panels. We inspect the track, panels, springs and opener, explain what we find and quote the price before we start.

Can a handyman fix a garage door?

A handyman can handle a sensor or a roller. Springs and cables are under high tension and need a trained technician, so we do not recommend fixing them yourself.

How do I test my garage door's safety reverse and sensors?

Close the door with the opener, then lay a 2x4 flat on the floor in the door's path. The door should touch it and reverse. For the sensors, start the door closing and pass a broom handle through the beam near the floor. The door should stop and go back up. If either test fails, stop using the automatic close and call us for a repair.
