What customers say
Real reviews from our Google listing, copied as the customers wrote them.
Great to work with, gave us good advise and very knowledgeable with garage door springs . We could not find anyone to do our repair ASAP as it was a small project, but that did not matter to them. They traveled 2 hours to get the work done. Tech who did our repair was very personable, fast and did an excellent job.Theresa · Google review
I was really happy with the work Emil did for me. He was a responsive communicator, arrived on time, and did a quality job on the repair I needed. I would hire him again without hesitation.Serenity · Google review
Technician, Emil, was prompt and efficient to identify and fix the issues with our garage door. Rest assured that I won’t hesitate to call these folks if repair is needed.MeMee · Google review
Emil responded to my request for service promptly. He scheduled service for the next day and showed up on time. He was friendly and polite. He Immediately identified the problems and fixed them effectively and efficiently. He showed resourcefulness in coming up with a used part for an old door opener control and in coming up with a practical solution for stabilizing the door connection to the opener. Price for the work was very fair. Great company !! Thank you!!Christina · Google review
"Our garage door broke this morning, which was less than ideal. We were certain that it would cost a fortune to get it repaired on a Sunday, assuming it could even happen, but we knew we had to try. I called several companies and only two returned my call. One said that while they could send someone out, it would cost considerably more than if we could wait until Monday. While I appreciated the honesty, again, I wanted it fixed today. The other was Emil Garage Doors. When I had called they said they would call back. I did get a call back from Emil, less than an hour later. Anyway, on to the service. He let me know that it would cost the same to come today or tomorrow, it didn't matter. WOW and WOW again! He said that he could head here in about an hour. Additionally, when I asked him the cost of the various things it could be, what he quoted me were prices that were what the other place wanted to charge me after the service call fee and the hiked up hourly rate for the Sunday call! Upon arrival, he looked at the door, told us a few things that he noticed, and in no way did he ever try to "up-sell" us something we didn't need. He told us our opener was what they use, and top of the line. He replaced the gear drive (maybe that's the name:)) and upgraded our rollers (that was a suggestion, but, one we totally understood and he in no way said we "needed" to). I think he was in and out in 45 minutes at most and our garage door is quieter than before by a TON (thank you rollers) and, more importantly, it works and nobody had to miss work on Monday to make it happen. Thank you so much...I can't recommend your company enough. "Pamela · Google review
Emil is delightful, knowledgeable, professional, and capable. He promised to make the process easy and he did. From our first contact Thursday mid-day through completion of the project Saturday at Noon, everything was 100% perfect, and we are extremely happy. We are amazed when we look outside and see our beautiful new door, so soon after searching on google. Emil and his company deserve 100 stars but we are limited to only 5Dawn · Google review

Post-1916 houses and nineteen historic districts
According to the Census Bureau's 2020 to 2024 American Community Survey, Paris has about 11,531 housing units. About 70 percent are single-family detached houses, and a little over half of occupied homes, about 52 percent, are rented. The median year built is 1980 and the median home value is about $150,000. If you rent, ask your landlord before ordering a new door.
The fire of 1916 destroyed almost half of the town, including the courthouse, so much of the older housing dates from after that. The city's Historic Preservation page lists 19 historic districts, including the Downtown Commercial, Church Street and Pine Bluff-Fitzhugh districts. We could not confirm whether a garage door needs review in them, so check with the city's Main Street and Historic Preservation office before you change a visible door.
Tell us your cross street and whether the opening is a single, a double or a pair of doors, and we schedule the first open slot. Every door is weighed and balanced before we choose its springs.
- Original parts on older doors
- Visible doors in historic districts
- Rental homes with worn openers

What Paris weather does to a garage door
Wikipedia puts Paris in Tornado Alley. Its 1991-2020 climate table gives a January mean low of 33.2 degrees, July and August highs near 94 to 95, about 48 inches of precipitation a year and roughly 1.8 inches of snow. Hard freezes and ice strain bottom seals and weatherstripping, and summer heat wears on openers.
On April 2, 1982, an F4 tornado destroyed more than 1,500 homes in Paris and killed 10 people, according to Wikipedia. In February 2021, The Paris News reported a low near 5 degrees, snow and ice on the roads and rolling blackouts, with Lamar Electric Cooperative warning of outages of 15 to 20 minutes at a time. A door that depends on an opener is hard to use in an outage, so know where your manual release is.
Before winter, check the bottom seal for cracks and lubricate the rollers and hinges. After any storm, look for bent track sections and dented panels before you run the opener.

Opener safety, permits and design rules in Paris
Opener safety. Federal rules (the Consumer Product Safety Commission's standard for automatic residential garage door operators, 16 CFR part 1211) require openers made for homes to reverse the door when it meets an obstruction and to have a separate entrapment protection device, which on most openers is the pair of photo-eye sensors near the floor. If your opener ignores the sensors or does not reverse, stop using it and call us. See opener installation.
HOAs and style rules. If you live in a planned community or a historic district, check style and color rules before you choose a new door. See new garage doors for styles.
City permits. Paris is its own city, so its rules come from the City of Paris. City Hall is at 135 SE 1st Street, main phone 903-785-7511, and permits are handled through the city's online portal. The city pages we could read do not say whether a garage door replacement or an opener swap needs a permit, so we could not confirm a garage-door-specific rule. Ask the city before the work at paristexas.gov.
Historic districts. The city's code of ordinances (Article 9.05) created a Historic Preservation Commission, and the city lists 19 historic districts. We could not confirm whether a garage door change needs a certificate of appropriateness. Before you change a visible garage door in a historic district, contact the Main Street and Historic Preservation office at 150 SE 1st Street.
Texas rules. We found no Texas statewide license for garage door contractors. The Texas Department of Public Safety says that installing only garage door openers or operators, with their push buttons, remotes and keypads, needs no DPS license, unless the operator is tied to an alarm or can log who comes and goes.

Paris garage door repair: questions we hear
Is there garage door repair near me in Paris?
Yes. Emil Garage Doors repairs garage doors in Paris (ZIP 75460) and the neighborhoods next door. Call (214) 382-3772, tell us your street or neighborhood and what the door does, and we book the soonest visit. See garage door repair near me.
What is the average price to repair a garage door in Paris?
Typical prices: a 12-point safety inspection is $89, a torsion spring pair for a standard two-car door is $250 to $450 (heavy-duty springs $350 to $900), a cable pair is $175 to $350, and a belt-drive opener installed with battery backup is $550 to $900. The final price is confirmed after we see the door.
What is the most common garage door repair in Paris?
Broken torsion springs are among the most common garage door repairs, because springs wear out after a set number of open-and-close cycles. Cables, rollers, safety sensors and off-track doors follow. See garage door spring repair.
How much is a service call for a garage door?
Our 12-point safety inspection is $89. It covers the springs, cables, rollers, tracks, sensors and opener, and we explain what we find before any repair starts.
Is it cheaper to repair or replace a garage door?
A repair is usually cheaper when the door itself is sound and only a spring, cable, roller or sensor failed. Replacement makes sense when panels are bent or rotted, the door is very old or the opening needs a different size. We tell you which one fits before we start.
Which ZIP codes do you serve in Paris, Texas?
Paris's standard ZIP codes are 75460 and 75462. The 75461 code is a PO box code. Call us if you are not sure we reach your address.
Do you repair garage doors after a storm in Paris?
Yes. Paris sits in Tornado Alley, and wind, hail and ice can bend tracks, dent panels and crack seals. We check the track, springs, panels and opener, explain what we find and quote the price before we start.
Do I need approval to change a garage door in a Paris historic district?
We could not confirm a garage-door rule for the city's historic districts. Contact the Main Street and Historic Preservation office at 150 SE 1st Street before you replace a visible garage door, then tell us when you call so we can plan the visit.
Can a handyman fix a garage door?
A handyman can handle a sensor or a roller. Springs and cables are under high tension and need a trained technician, so we do not recommend fixing them yourself.
How do I test my garage door's safety reverse and sensors?
Close the door with the opener, then lay a 2x4 flat on the floor in the door's path. The door should touch it and reverse. For the sensors, start the door closing and pass a broom handle through the beam near the floor. The door should stop and go back up. If either test fails, stop using the automatic close and call us for a repair.
