A myQ hub or opener that will not connect is usually a network problem, not a door problem. Check that your phone and hub use a 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network, type the password by hand, keep the hub 4 to 6 feet from the opener and restart the hub and router for 30 seconds. Your remote, keypad and wall control keep working meanwhile.
Your door still works without the app
When myQ goes offline, the app cannot reach the opener, but the wall control, the remote and the keypad still work. Chamberlain says so for a hub that lost its connection. So you are not locked out; you have a Wi-Fi problem to solve.
Chamberlain says the hub needs a 2.4GHz network. Many routers broadcast 2.4GHz and 5GHz under one name, so your phone may connect on the wrong band during setup.

Read the hub light
| Hub light | What it means | Try this |
|---|---|---|
| No light | No power | Check the outlet and the plug |
| Blinking blue | Ready for setup, or setup failed | Retype the password by hand, stay close to the hub, check the 2.4GHz signal |
| Solid blue | Connected to your phone, not your Wi-Fi | Check your phone is on the right network |
| Blinking blue and green | Lost its connection to Wi-Fi | Restart the hub and the router, then change Wi-Fi settings in the app |
| Blinking green | On the router but cannot reach the myQ server | Restart the router and hub, check the firewall |
| Solid green | Online; the problem is the account | Check you use the same sign-in email |

Five checks in order
- Confirm the power and your internet. Plug something else into the outlet and open any website on your phone.
- Make sure your phone is on the 2.4GHz network during setup. If your router combines bands, separate them or use a 2.4GHz-only name.
- Type the Wi-Fi password by hand. Pasted passwords can carry hidden characters.
- Mount the hub 4 to 6 feet from the opener, not on the opener or on a metal surface.
- Unplug the hub for 30 seconds, then restart the router and modem for 30 seconds and wait for the internet to return.
Phone settings that get in the way
On an iPhone, Wi-Fi Assist and Private Relay can interfere with setup. On Android, Smart Network Switch or Switch to Mobile Data can do the same. Chamberlain suggests turning them off during setup and back on afterwards. If you use a firewall, Chamberlain says the hub needs TCP port 8883 open.
Solid green but still no control
If the light is solid green and the app still fails, look at the account. Sign in with the same email or the same sign-in method you used before, and check you are not a household member with limited access. A hub shown in monitor-only mode can show the door's status but not control it. See smart garage door openers and myQ for how it all fits together.

When the door itself is the problem
If the door will not close, reverses, or feels heavy, the cause is not the app. Stop and see why a garage door will not close, and do not work on springs or cables. Those are technician jobs.

Questions people ask
Why does my myQ keep going offline?
Usually a weak 2.4GHz signal in the garage, a router restart or a changed Wi-Fi name or password. Move the hub closer to the router or restart both.
Does myQ work on 5GHz Wi-Fi?
Chamberlain says the hub needs a 2.4GHz network. If your router combines the bands, separate them or use a 2.4GHz-only network.
How do I reset my myQ hub?
Unplug it for 30 seconds and plug it back in. If it still does not connect, clear its Wi-Fi settings in the app and set it up again.
Will my remote work if myQ is offline?
Yes. Chamberlain says the remote, wall control and keypad still work when the hub loses its connection.
