I have been using them for few years. They are professional, reliable (especially in emergencies (springs breaking)), customer service is always polite and helpful, and their prices cannot be beat!!Deborah · Google review
Doesn't get any better than this guy! I have recently purchased a condo with a broken garage door opener. It was missing some brackets. I called them, and Emil came out promptly the next morning. On time! He was able to run back to his shop and get the bracket I needed. It took him less than an hour to complete the entire project! My garage door works great now. I said a little thank you to Emil as I opened my garage door late last night and drove in my garage. I would definitely call him again if I needed anything done with my garage door. Highly recommend, plus he's just a super nice guy, which the process so much easier. Thanks Emil!Winston · Google review

Talk about the gold standard for superb professional courteous responsive customer service - these guys are always on time, their rates are very reasonable and IMO lowest in town, and their work is always quality - from spring replacements to extra FOB programming & delivery! The owner is the real deal and makes good on all promises - We love doing business with him and don't hesitate to refer this business to all. He's that good!Ryan · Google review
Called the office to let them know my issues and asked if we could get someone out to look at my door. Was told between 11-12...drove home from work at 11:05 and Emil was waiting and ready to get to work. Not knowing anything about how to fix a garage door, Emil did a great job explaining why I was having issues. Quoted a reasonable price (well at least what I thought was reasonable) and less than 40 minute later he had fixed the problem. Great customer service from intake of the call to fixing my door! If you need a garage door repair...support local business and give them your business, you won't be disappointed.Guadalupe · Google review
My garage door and opener were pretty banged up and not working properly. Emil Garage Doors came out, did a thorough evaluation of door and all it's parts. Even though the previous home owner rigged up the garage door opener with the wrong springs and parts, Emil repaired the door and saved us money by using some of the old parts. That kind of honesty will get 5 stars all day long. Thank you Emil Garage Doors for your great service.Bradford · Google review
I woke up to a loud crash when a tree in my front yard fell over and hit my garage door. Emil Garage Doors was able to give be a really good price on a new garage door. They uninstalled the old, damaged door and realigned the tracks the garage door connects to which had been damaged as well. The new door looks great and most importantly functions well. Thank you for going above and beyond in my time of need!Stuart · Google review

Model Colony houses downtown, new tracts in Ontario Ranch
According to the Census Bureau's estimates (2020-2024 five-year), the median Ontario home was built in 1980. About 58 percent of homes are owner-occupied, about 58 percent are detached single-family houses, and about one unit in five sits in a building of five or more units. Those are citywide figures, so a street near downtown and a street in the south can look very different.
The city began in 1882 as the Chaffey brothers' Model Colony, and Euclid Avenue, now State Route 83, was laid out with a grassy median. The farmland in the south was rezoned in 1999 and is now Ontario Ranch, planned for about 47,000 homes at full build-out, with an average lot near 6,700 square feet according to Wikipedia. If your community has an HOA, check its rules on door style and color before you order a new door.
Older houses tend to have original springs, rollers and openers that have worked for decades, while the newer tracts have newer doors that are still logging daily cycles. We check the whole door either way, and in apartment and townhome buildings we repair each door on its own.
- Original springs and openers on older homes
- Newer Ontario Ranch doors and HOA style rules
- Apartment and townhome garages

What your garage door is telling you in Ontario
A starting point. We confirm the cause on site.
| The door does this | Common cause | What we do |
|---|---|---|
| The door is heavy and will not stay up | A spring has lost tension or broken | Replace the springs as a set and rebalance the door |
| The door jumped off its track | A bent track or a broken roller | Straighten or replace the track, replace rollers, reset the door |
| The opener runs but nothing moves | A stripped gear, broken spring or a disconnected door | Test the opener, repair or replace the failed part |
| The door closes crooked | A stretched or slipped cable | Replace the cable and level the door |
| The remote works only close to the door | A weak battery, receiver or antenna | Replace the battery and test the receiver |
Do not run a door that is crooked or heavy.

What Ontario weather does to a garage door
Ontario is hot and dry for much of the year. NOAA's 1991-2020 normals for Ontario International Airport, as reported on Wikipedia, put the mean August high near 95 degrees and the January high near 68, with about 11.6 inches of rain over roughly 35 days a year and a record high of 118. Months of heat dry the oil out of rollers and hinges and age plastic parts.
Wikipedia says Santa Ana winds hit the area frequently in autumn and winter. We did not find a published power shutoff tied to Ontario, but any outage stops an opener, so know where the red manual release cord is and make sure the opener's battery backup works.
Twice a year, wipe the tracks, oil the rollers and hinges, and lay a board flat under the door to test the safety reverse. Press the battery backup's test button at the same time.
- Oil rollers and hinges before summer
- Test the battery backup twice a year
- Wipe dust off tracks and sensors after wind

Battery backup, permits and design rules in Ontario
Battery backup. California Health and Safety Code section 19892 says residential garage door openers sold or installed in the state need a battery backup, and a replacement garage door cannot be connected to an older residential opener that lacks one. See opener installation.
HOAs and style rules. If you live in a planned community or a historic overlay, check style and color rules before you choose a new door. See new garage doors for styles.
Permits in Ontario. The City of Ontario's Building page (ontarioca.gov/building) lists Plan Check and Counter Services at (909) 395-2023 and inspections at (909) 395-2362, and it does not mention garage doors or openers. We could not confirm a garage-door-specific permit rule, so call the building counter before a replacement. Counter hours are Monday to Thursday 7:30 AM to 5:30 PM and Friday 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
HOAs. We found no Ontario-specific historic-district or hillside rule for garage doors. The planned communities in Ontario Ranch often have an HOA, so check its rules on door style and color before you order.

Ontario garage door repair: questions we hear
Is there garage door repair near me in Ontario?
Yes. Emil Garage Doors repairs garage doors in Ontario (ZIP 91761, 91762 and 91764) and the neighborhoods next door. Call (213) 340-4232, tell us your street or neighborhood and what the door does, and we book the soonest visit. See garage door repair near me.
What is the average price to repair a garage door in Ontario?
Typical prices: a 12-point safety inspection is $89, a torsion spring pair for a standard two-car door is $250 to $450 (heavy-duty springs $350 to $900), a cable pair is $175 to $350, and a belt-drive opener installed with battery backup is $550 to $900. The final price is confirmed after we see the door.
What is the most common garage door repair in Ontario?
Broken torsion springs are among the most common garage door repairs, because springs wear out after a set number of open-and-close cycles. Cables, rollers, safety sensors and off-track doors follow. See garage door spring repair.
How much is a service call for a garage door?
Our 12-point safety inspection is $89. It covers the springs, cables, rollers, tracks, sensors and opener, and we explain what we find before any repair starts.
Is it cheaper to repair or replace a garage door?
A repair is usually cheaper when the door itself is sound and only a spring, cable, roller or sensor failed. Replacement makes sense when panels are bent or rotted, the door is very old or the opening needs a different size. We tell you which one fits before we start.
Which ZIP codes do you serve in Ontario?
We serve Ontario ZIP codes 91761, 91762 and 91764. ZIP 91710 belongs to Chino, even though some directories list Ontario as an alias. Call us if you are not sure we reach your address.
Do I need a permit to replace a garage door in Ontario?
The City of Ontario's building page does not mention garage doors or openers, and we could not confirm a garage-door-specific rule. Call the building counter at (909) 395-2023 before a replacement, and check your HOA's rules too.
Do you service the newer communities in Ontario Ranch?
Yes. We service homes throughout Ontario Ranch. If your community has an HOA, check its rules on door style and color first, and tell us about any gated entry when you call so we can plan the visit.
Can a handyman fix a garage door?
A handyman can handle a simple job like a sensor or a roller. Springs and cables are under high tension and need a trained technician, so call us for those.
Does California require a battery backup on a garage door opener?
Yes. California Health and Safety Code section 19892 says residential openers sold or installed in the state need a battery backup, and a replacement garage door cannot be connected to an older residential opener that lacks one.
Do you also repair gates in Ontario?
Yes. See gate repair and electric gate repair.
