A small, dense city of rentals, apartments and mobile homes
According to the Census Bureau's 2020-2024 five-year estimates, Stanton has about 13,300 housing units and the median home was built in 1975. Only about 41 percent are single-family homes, about 27 percent detached and 14 percent attached, while about 14 percent are mobile homes. About 48 percent of homes are owner-occupied and 52 percent are rented, which makes Stanton a majority-renter city.
That mix shapes the calls we get: tenants, landlords and property managers as well as homeowners. Not every address has a private attached garage, so tell us whether you have a garage, a shared garage or a different kind of door when you call. If you rent, tell us who approves the repair and how to reach them, and we plan the visit around it.
Stanton covers about 3.1 square miles with no freeway inside the city, and Beach Boulevard is the only state highway through it. Wikipedia counted about 12,200 people per square mile in 2020. The town took the name Stanton in 1911 and the present city incorporated in 1956, and Stanton Central Park, Lions-Stock Park and Adventure City are among its landmarks. With so many homes in a small area, we match the work to the building, from house doors to apartment garages.

What customers say
Real reviews from our Google listing, copied as the customers wrote them.
Great to work with, gave us good advise and very knowledgeable with garage door springs . We could not find anyone to do our repair ASAP as it was a small project, but that did not matter to them. They traveled 2 hours to get the work done. Tech who did our repair was very personable, fast and did an excellent job.Theresa · Google review
I was really happy with the work Emil did for me. He was a responsive communicator, arrived on time, and did a quality job on the repair I needed. I would hire him again without hesitation.Serenity · Google review
Technician, Emil, was prompt and efficient to identify and fix the issues with our garage door. Rest assured that I won’t hesitate to call these folks if repair is needed.MeMee · Google review
Emil responded to my request for service promptly. He scheduled service for the next day and showed up on time. He was friendly and polite. He Immediately identified the problems and fixed them effectively and efficiently. He showed resourcefulness in coming up with a used part for an old door opener control and in coming up with a practical solution for stabilizing the door connection to the opener. Price for the work was very fair. Great company !! Thank you!!Christina · Google review
"Our garage door broke this morning, which was less than ideal. We were certain that it would cost a fortune to get it repaired on a Sunday, assuming it could even happen, but we knew we had to try. I called several companies and only two returned my call. One said that while they could send someone out, it would cost considerably more than if we could wait until Monday. While I appreciated the honesty, again, I wanted it fixed today. The other was Emil Garage Doors. When I had called they said they would call back. I did get a call back from Emil, less than an hour later. Anyway, on to the service. He let me know that it would cost the same to come today or tomorrow, it didn't matter. WOW and WOW again! He said that he could head here in about an hour. Additionally, when I asked him the cost of the various things it could be, what he quoted me were prices that were what the other place wanted to charge me after the service call fee and the hiked up hourly rate for the Sunday call! Upon arrival, he looked at the door, told us a few things that he noticed, and in no way did he ever try to "up-sell" us something we didn't need. He told us our opener was what they use, and top of the line. He replaced the gear drive (maybe that's the name:)) and upgraded our rollers (that was a suggestion, but, one we totally understood and he in no way said we "needed" to). I think he was in and out in 45 minutes at most and our garage door is quieter than before by a TON (thank you rollers) and, more importantly, it works and nobody had to miss work on Monday to make it happen. Thank you so much...I can't recommend your company enough. "Pamela · Google review
Emil is delightful, knowledgeable, professional, and capable. He promised to make the process easy and he did. From our first contact Thursday mid-day through completion of the project Saturday at Noon, everything was 100% perfect, and we are extremely happy. We are amazed when we look outside and see our beautiful new door, so soon after searching on google. Emil and his company deserve 100 stars but we are limited to only 5Dawn · Google review

What Stanton weather does to a garage door
Stanton has no weather table from a named station in our sources, so these figures come from regional sources. Mean daily highs run near 81 degrees in July and 82 in August, with a record high of 108. Rain adds up to about 13 inches a year, mostly in winter, with February the highest at about 3 inches. Heat dries out lubricant and ages plastic parts, and winter rain settles into tracks and bottom seals.
With the city flat and built out, everyday wear matters more than terrain. A door that opens and closes several times a day on a busy household or a rental unit logs its spring cycles quickly. Springs are rated for a set number of cycles, so a door that has not been looked at in years is a likely candidate for a worn spring or cable.
Twice a year, wipe the tracks, oil the rollers and hinges, and check that the two sensors near the floor face each other. Test the safety reverse by laying a board flat under the door, and press the test button on the battery backup.
- Oil rollers and hinges before summer
- Check the bottom seal after rain
- Test the safety reverse and battery backup

Battery backup, permits and design rules in Stanton
Battery backup. California requires a battery backup on residential garage door openers sold or installed in the state (Health and Safety Code section 19892). A new door cannot be connected to an older opener that lacks one. See opener installation.
Design rules. Planned communities and historic overlays can limit door style and color. Ask before you choose a new door: new garage doors.
Stanton permits. Stanton is its own city, so its Community & Economic Development Building Division sets the permit rules. City Hall is at 7800 Katella Avenue and the main line is (714) 379-9222. The city's building page lists the permit counter technician at (714) 890-4286 and inspections at (714) 890-4252, by appointment at least 48 hours ahead. The page does not list which work needs a permit and does not mention garage doors or openers. We could not confirm whether a garage door replacement needs a permit, so ask the Building Division at (714) 890-4286 before a replacement. See stantonca.gov.
Renters and mobile homes. Many Stanton homes are rented, and about one in seven is a mobile home. If you rent, ask your landlord to approve the repair, and if you live in a mobile home park, check the park's rules before a new door.

Stanton garage door repair: questions we hear
Is there garage door repair near me in Stanton?
Yes. Emil Garage Doors repairs garage doors in Stanton (ZIP 90680) and the neighborhoods next door. Call (213) 340-4232, tell us your street or neighborhood and what the door does, and we book the soonest visit. See garage door repair near me.
What is the average price to repair a garage door in Stanton?
Typical prices: a 12-point safety inspection is $89, a torsion spring pair for a standard two-car door is $250 to $450 (heavy-duty springs $350 to $900), a cable pair is $175 to $350, and a belt-drive opener installed with battery backup is $550 to $900. The final price is confirmed after we see the door.
What is the most common garage door repair in Stanton?
Broken torsion springs are among the most common garage door repairs, because springs wear out after a set number of open-and-close cycles. Cables, rollers, safety sensors and off-track doors follow. See garage door spring repair.
How much is a service call for a garage door?
Our 12-point safety inspection is $89. It covers the springs, cables, rollers, tracks, sensors and opener, and we explain what we find before any repair starts.
Is it cheaper to repair or replace a garage door?
A repair is usually cheaper when the door itself is sound and only a spring, cable, roller or sensor failed. Replacement makes sense when panels are bent or rotted, the door is very old or the opening needs a different size. We tell you which one fits before we start.
Which ZIP code do you serve in Stanton?
Stanton uses ZIP code 90680, the only ZIP code for the city. Call us if you are not sure we reach your address.
Do you repair garage doors for renters and landlords in Stanton?
Yes. About half of Stanton homes are rented. Tell us who approves the work and how to reach them when you call, and we plan the visit around that.
Does a garage door replacement need a permit in Stanton?
We could not confirm a garage-door-specific rule, and the city's building page does not mention garage doors. Ask the City of Stanton Building Division at (714) 890-4286 before a replacement or a new opener.
Can a handyman fix a garage door?
A handyman can handle a simple job like a sensor or a roller. Springs and cables are under high tension and need a trained technician, so call us for those.
Does California require a battery backup on a garage door opener?
Yes. California Health and Safety Code section 19892 says residential openers sold or installed in the state need a battery backup, and a replacement garage door cannot be connected to an older residential opener that lacks one.
Do you also repair gates in Stanton?
Yes. See gate repair and electric gate repair.
