What Raynham weather does to a garage door
Raynham has no weather table of its own that we could verify, so these are regional figures from the weather box on Wikipedia's Taunton page, which cites NOAA's 1991-2020 normals and sits a few miles away: a July mean daily high near 84 degrees, a January mean daily low near 20, about 49 inches of precipitation and about 26 inches of snow a year. Cold stiffens springs, cables and weatherstripping, and road salt corrodes tracks and hardware.
Taunton's municipal light plant supplies power to Raynham, and when the power drops the opener will not run, so everyone in the house should know where the red manual release cord is and how to use it. Wind-driven rain also wears the weatherstripping on the sides and top of the door over the years.
Before winter, wipe the tracks, lubricate the rollers and hinges, and test the safety reverse. After a snowfall, clear the ice from the bottom of the door before you run the opener.
- Know where the manual release is
- Lubricate rollers and hinges before winter
- Check side and top weatherstripping

Detached houses from the 1980s, with some apartments and mobile homes
According to the Census Bureau's 2020-2024 American Community Survey, Raynham has about 6,200 housing units and the median home was built in 1986. About 68 percent are detached single-family houses, about 20 percent are in buildings of five or more units and about 7 percent are mobile homes. About 78 percent of households own their home. Openers and springs installed in the 1980s have often been replaced once, and newer homes with deeper garages usually have two-car doors.
Wikipedia says Raynham was settled in 1639 as part of Taunton and incorporated in 1731, and that the Taunton Iron Works, begun in 1656 along the Two Mile River, operated until 1876. It names Raynham Center as the town's one village and describes Raynham Park, the former greyhound track, and the Wat Nawamintararachutis Thai Buddhist temple. We found no local historic district in Raynham, so ask the town if your house is unusually old.
Tell us your street and whether the garage is attached or detached, and we book the soonest visit. We weigh and balance each door before choosing new springs.

Incredible honest work. Emil took care of all the repairs needed in order for my garage door to work again. I know I need a new garage door but I can't afford it right now this company was nice enough to fix it instead of hounding me for more money to get a new door. Emil was so nice that he even provided me a price. I was so happy he said I could call him when I had the money and he would honor me the price. amazing company to reach out to.Jasmine · Google review

Doesn't get any better than this guy! I have recently purchased a condo with a broken garage door opener. It was missing some brackets. I called them, and Emil came out promptly the next morning. On time! He was able to run back to his shop and get the bracket I needed. It took him less than an hour to complete the entire project! My garage door works great now. I said a little thank you to Emil as I opened my garage door late last night and drove in my garage. I would definitely call him again if I needed anything done with my garage door. Highly recommend, plus he's just a super nice guy, which the process so much easier. Thanks Emil!Winston · Google review

Called the office to let them know my issues and asked if we could get someone out to look at my door. Was told between 11-12...drove home from work at 11:05 and Emil was waiting and ready to get to work. Not knowing anything about how to fix a garage door, Emil did a great job explaining why I was having issues. Quoted a reasonable price (well at least what I thought was reasonable) and less than 40 minute later he had fixed the problem. Great customer service from intake of the call to fixing my door! If you need a garage door repair...support local business and give them your business, you won't be disappointed.Guadalupe · Google review

What your garage door is telling you in Raynham
A starting point. We confirm the cause on site.
| The door does this | Common cause | What we do |
|---|---|---|
| Slams down or will not lift | A broken torsion spring | Replace the spring set, balance the door, test the safety reverse |
| Opener hums but the door stays put | A broken spring or a disconnected trolley | Find which one failed, then repair and rebalance |
| One side hangs lower than the other | A slipped or snapped lift cable | Replace the cable, check the drum and level the door |
| Loud grinding or rattling | Dry or worn rollers, loose hinges | Replace rollers and hinges, lubricate and tighten |
| Reverses before it reaches the floor | Misaligned or dirty safety sensors | Clean and realign the sensors, test the reverse |
Do not run a door that is crooked or heavy.
Opener safety, permits and design rules in Raynham
Opener safety. The federal standard for residential garage door operators (Consumer Product Safety Commission, 16 CFR part 1211) calls for automatic reversing and entrapment protection such as photo-eye sensors. If yours stopped working, we test the reverse and the sensors and repair or replace what failed. See opener installation.
Design rules. Planned communities and historic districts can limit door style and color. Ask before you choose a new door: new garage doors.
City permits. Raynham is a town with its own Building Department at Town Hall, 558 South Main Street, according to a third-party permit guide, which lists 508-824-2700 for Town Hall and 508-824-2755 for permit inquiries; other listings give different numbers and another address, so confirm when you call. The guide says Raynham applies the statewide permit rules and mentions doors only in its fee formula, so we could not confirm whether a garage door replacement or an opener swap needs a permit. The town's own site was not readable to us. Ask the department before the work.
State rules. Massachusetts General Laws chapter 142A covers residential contracting (repair, alteration, renovation and improvement) on existing owner-occupied buildings of one to four units and bars contractors from working without a registration certificate. The state building code lists work that needs no building permit but does not mention garage doors, so the town's answer is the one that counts.

Raynham garage door repair: questions we hear
Is there garage door repair near me in Raynham?
Yes. Emil Garage Doors repairs garage doors in Raynham (ZIP 02767) and the neighborhoods next door. Call (617) 644-5527, tell us your street or neighborhood and what the door does, and we book the soonest visit. See garage door repair near me.
What is the average price to repair a garage door in Raynham?
Typical prices: a 12-point safety inspection is $89, a torsion spring pair for a standard two-car door is $250 to $450 (heavy-duty springs $350 to $900), a cable pair is $175 to $350, and a belt-drive opener installed with battery backup is $550 to $900. The final price is confirmed after we see the door.
What is the most common garage door repair in Raynham?
Broken torsion springs are among the most common garage door repairs, because springs wear out after a set number of open-and-close cycles. Cables, rollers, safety sensors and off-track doors follow. See garage door spring repair.
How much is a service call for a garage door?
Our 12-point safety inspection is $89. It covers the springs, cables, rollers, tracks, sensors and opener, and we explain what we find before any repair starts.
Is it cheaper to repair or replace a garage door?
A repair is usually cheaper when the door itself is sound and only a spring, cable, roller or sensor failed. Replacement makes sense when panels are bent or rotted, the door is very old or the opening needs a different size. We tell you which one fits before we start.
Which ZIP code do you serve in Raynham?
Raynham's street ZIP code is 02767. Call us if you are not sure we reach your address.
Does Raynham require a permit to replace a garage door?
We could not confirm it. The permit guide we found does not say whether a door replacement needs one, so call the Building Department at Town Hall (listed as 508-824-2700) before a replacement and confirm the number, and tell us when you call so we can plan the visit.
Do you serve Raynham Center and North Raynham?
Yes. We serve the whole town, from Raynham Center and South Main Street to North Raynham along Broadway and the streets toward the Taunton, Bridgewater and Middleborough lines.
Can a handyman fix a garage door?
A handyman can handle a sensor or a roller. Springs and cables are under high tension and need a trained technician, so we do not recommend fixing them yourself.
How do I test my garage door's safety reverse and sensors?
Close the door with the opener, then lay a 2x4 flat on the floor in the door's path. The door should touch it and reverse. For the sensors, start the door closing and pass a broom handle through the beam near the floor. The door should stop and go back up. If either test fails, stop using the automatic close and call us for a repair.
