Called the office to let them know my issues and asked if we could get someone out to look at my door. Was told between 11-12...drove home from work at 11:05 and Emil was waiting and ready to get to work. What Taunton weather does to a garage door
According to the weather box on Wikipedia's Taunton page, which cites NOAA's 1991-2020 normals, the average July high is near 84 degrees, the average January low is near 20, and the city gets about 49 inches of precipitation and about 26 inches of snow a year, with records of 103 degrees in August and minus 16 in February. Cold stiffens springs, cables and weatherstripping, and road salt corrodes tracks and hardware.
Wikipedia also records that in October 2005, after a week of heavy rain, the Whittenton Pond Dam north of downtown threatened to fail, and over 2,000 residents were evacuated. If water reaches garage level, keep the opener switched off until the door, motor and wiring are dry and checked.
Before winter, wipe the tracks, lubricate the rollers and hinges, and test the safety reverse. After a snowfall, clear the ice from the bottom of the door before you run the opener.
