What customers say

My garage door spring broke the other evening and I was unable to open my door. I contacted them first thing the next day. They were able to give me an appointment for later in that day. The service technician called prior to arrival as promised & arrived shortly afterwards. He recommended some additional service to the door in addition to the springs which I accepted. The door was repaired in less than 2 hours & now works better than ever. Thank youBrandi · Google review
Great to work with, gave us good advise and very knowledgeable with garage door springs . We could not find anyone to do our repair ASAP as it was a small project, but that did not matter to them. They traveled 2 hours to get the work done. Tech who did our repair was very personable, fast and did an excellent job.Theresa · Google review
I was really happy with the work Emil did for me. He was a responsive communicator, arrived on time, and did a quality job on the repair I needed. I would hire him again without hesitation.Serenity · Google review
Technician, Emil, was prompt and efficient to identify and fix the issues with our garage door. Rest assured that I won’t hesitate to call these folks if repair is needed.MeMee · Google review
Emil responded to my request for service promptly. He scheduled service for the next day and showed up on time. He was friendly and polite. He Immediately identified the problems and fixed them effectively and efficiently. He showed resourcefulness in coming up with a used part for an old door opener control and in coming up with a practical solution for stabilizing the door connection to the opener. Price for the work was very fair. Great company !! Thank you!!Christina · Google review
"Our garage door broke this morning, which was less than ideal. We were certain that it would cost a fortune to get it repaired on a Sunday, assuming it could even happen, but we knew we had to try. I called several companies and only two returned my call. One said that while they could send someone out, it would cost considerably more than if we could wait until Monday. While I appreciated the honesty, again, I wanted it fixed today. The other was Emil Garage Doors. When I had called they said they would call back. I did get a call back from Emil, less than an hour later. Anyway, on to the service. He let me know that it would cost the same to come today or tomorrow, it didn't matter. WOW and WOW again! He said that he could head here in about an hour. Additionally, when I asked him the cost of the various things it could be, what he quoted me were prices that were what the other place wanted to charge me after the service call fee and the hiked up hourly rate for the Sunday call! Upon arrival, he looked at the door, told us a few things that he noticed, and in no way did he ever try to "up-sell" us something we didn't need. He told us our opener was what they use, and top of the line. He replaced the gear drive (maybe that's the name:)) and upgraded our rollers (that was a suggestion, but, one we totally understood and he in no way said we "needed" to). I think he was in and out in 45 minutes at most and our garage door is quieter than before by a TON (thank you rollers) and, more importantly, it works and nobody had to miss work on Monday to make it happen. Thank you so much...I can't recommend your company enough. "Pamela · Google review

What Bend weather does to a garage door
NOAA's 1991-2020 normals for the Bend station show average highs of about 43 degrees in January and about 84 in July, roughly 168 nights a year at or below 32 degrees and about 41 nights at or below 20 degrees. The station averages about 10.6 inches of precipitation and about 22 inches of snow a year, mostly from November to March. Long freezes stiffen lubricant and bottom seals and make springs and cables work harder.
According to the Bend Bulletin, the June 2021 heat wave left more than 500 Pacific Power customers in the Bend area without power for a time, and in July 2024 the Air Quality Index reached 166 in downtown Bend. We found no Bend-only winter outage figures. When the power fails the opener will not lift the door, so know where your manual release is.
Before winter, wipe the tracks, lubricate the rollers and hinges, check the bottom seal for gaps and test the safety reverse. After a snowfall, clear ice from the threshold before you run the opener.
- Lubricate rollers and hinges before the first freeze
- Check bottom seals before winter
- Know where the manual release is

Opener safety, permits and design rules in Bend
Opener safety. Federal rules (the Consumer Product Safety Commission's standard for automatic residential garage door operators, 16 CFR part 1211) require openers made for homes to reverse the door when it meets an obstruction and to have a separate entrapment protection device, which on most openers is the pair of photo-eye sensors near the floor. If your opener ignores the sensors or does not reverse, stop using it and call us. See opener installation.
HOAs and style rules. If you live in a planned community or a historic district, check style and color rules before you choose a new door. See new garage doors for styles.
City permits. Bend is its own city, so its rules come from the City of Bend. The Permit Center and Building Safety Division are at Bend City Hall, 710 NW Wall Street, phone 541-388-5580, open Monday to Friday for permit questions from 9 am to 4 pm. The city's guide for property owners says in general that structural changes, electrical work, plumbing and major renovations require permits; it does not list exempt work or name garage doors, door replacement or openers, so we could not confirm whether a garage door replacement needs a permit. Ask the Permit Center before the work, especially if the header or the opening will change. See bendoregon.gov.
State rules. Oregon law (ORS 455.310) says upkeep on a single-family home and its private garage should not need permits or fees if it does not conflict with structural and fire and life-safety provisions, and it lets the state exempt items such as door and window replacements. Oregon also requires a Construction Contractors Board license for most repair and alteration work done for pay on residential property. We could not confirm which license class covers garage door work. You can check any contractor's license and bond at search.ccb.state.or.us or call the board at 503-378-4621.

Bend garage door repair: questions we hear
Is there garage door repair near me in Bend?
Yes. Emil Garage Doors repairs garage doors in Bend (ZIP 97701) and the neighborhoods next door. Call (503) 974-8815, tell us your street or neighborhood and what the door does, and we book the soonest visit. See garage door repair near me.
What is the average price to repair a garage door in Bend?
Typical prices: a 12-point safety inspection is $89, a torsion spring pair for a standard two-car door is $250 to $450 (heavy-duty springs $350 to $900), a cable pair is $175 to $350, and a belt-drive opener installed with battery backup is $550 to $900. The final price is confirmed after we see the door.
What is the most common garage door repair in Bend?
Broken torsion springs are among the most common garage door repairs, because springs wear out after a set number of open-and-close cycles. Cables, rollers, safety sensors and off-track doors follow. See garage door spring repair.
How much is a service call for a garage door?
Our 12-point safety inspection is $89. It covers the springs, cables, rollers, tracks, sensors and opener, and we explain what we find before any repair starts.
Is it cheaper to repair or replace a garage door?
A repair is usually cheaper when the door itself is sound and only a spring, cable, roller or sensor failed. Replacement makes sense when panels are bent or rotted, the door is very old or the opening needs a different size. We tell you which one fits before we start.
Which ZIP codes do you serve in Bend?
Bend's street ZIP codes are 97701, 97702 and 97703; 97708 and 97709 are PO boxes. Call us if you are not sure we reach your address, for example toward Tumalo or Sunriver.
Do I need a permit to replace a garage door in Bend?
We could not confirm that. The city's guide does not name garage doors, so call the Permit Center at 541-388-5580 before you order. Changing the header or the size of the opening is a structural change, and new wiring is electrical work.
Do you service garage doors in Redmond and Tumalo as well as Bend?
Yes. Tumalo is a short drive north-west of Bend and Redmond is about 17 miles north, and we also serve Sisters and Sunriver. Tell us the town and your cross street when you call so we can plan the visit.
Can a handyman fix a garage door?
A handyman can handle a sensor or a roller. Springs and cables are under high tension and need a trained technician, so we do not recommend fixing them yourself.
How do I test my garage door's safety reverse and sensors?
Close the door with the opener, then lay a 2x4 flat on the floor in the door's path. The door should touch it and reverse. For the sensors, start the door closing and pass a broom handle through the beam near the floor. The door should stop and go back up. If either test fails, stop using the automatic close and call us for a repair.
