Why gates in Beaumont stop working
Some of these have a quick check you can try. If they do not solve it, call us.
| What you notice | Likely cause | What we do |
|---|---|---|
| Sliding gate jumps or scrapes on its track | Worn wheels, a dirty or bent track or a loose guide roller | Clean and straighten the track, replace wheels and rollers |
| Gate opens by itself or will not stay closed | A stuck input, a loop or sensor fault, or a loose latch | Trace the input, repair the sensor, realign the latch |
| Keypad or intercom is dead | Water in the unit, a wiring fault or a failed unit | Test the wiring, dry out or replace the keypad or intercom |
| Swing gate will not latch | The gate has dropped or the strike has moved | Realign the gate and the latch |
| Operator is slow or noisy | Dry hinges or bearings, a worn gear or arm, or a weak battery | Lubricate, replace the worn part, test the battery |
| Gate opens one way only | A limit setting, an obstruction or a failed board input | Reset the limits, clear the path, test the board |
Never stand in the path of an automatic gate while you test it.

Newer single-family homes and master-planned communities
Beaumont sits at the top of the San Gorgonio Pass in Riverside County. According to the Census Bureau's 2020-2024 American Community Survey estimates, the median home was built in 2006, about 88 percent of housing units are single-family detached houses and about 81 percent of occupied homes are owner-occupied.
Wikipedia names master-planned communities including Oak Valley Greens, Three Rings Ranch, Solera, Olivewood, Sundance, Tournament Hills, Four Seasons and Fairway Canyon without saying which are gated. The 55places.com directory lists Four Seasons at Beaumont, Solera at Oak Valley Greens and Altis as gated 55-plus communities. HOA fees in listings conflict, so we quote none, and you should check your association's rules before you change a gate.
A gate on a home this new may still have its original battery, control board, sensors and remotes, so we test the electronics along with the hinges or track.
- Driveway gates on homes built since the 2000s
- Keypads, remotes and receivers at community entries
- Original batteries, boards and sensors

What the San Gorgonio Pass does to a gate
Wikipedia calls Beaumont one of the windiest cities in Southern California. Patch reported a peak gust of 71 mph along Highland Springs Avenue on November 13, 2018, with a large tree uprooted on Palm Avenue, and an NWS advisory on June 7, 2021 listed gusts to 50 mph and isolated gusts to 60 for the pass near Banning. A wide or solid gate takes that wind on its hinges, posts and latches.
Southern California Edison is Beaumont's utility, and its public safety power shutoffs have reached the area: KESQ reported that a January 21, 2025 shutoff cut power in parts of Banning and Beaumont for 28,836 Riverside County customers. The city says restoration is typically 3 to 8 hours after the circuit is cleared for inspection. In that window an electric gate depends on its backup battery or a manual release.
Before wind season, test the backup battery, check the hinges and latches and make sure you know where the manual release is.
- Test backup batteries before wind season
- Check hinges, posts and latches after strong wind
- Keep the manual release accessible

Great company to use for garage door work. Came out promptly, over a weekend when I could not get others to respond. Efficient work, very knowledgeable, very friendly. I would not hesitate to contact them first the next time I need service.Courtney · Google review
Incredible honest work. Emil took care of all the repairs needed in order for my garage door to work again. I know I need a new garage door but I can't afford it right now this company was nice enough to fix it instead of hounding me for more money to get a new door. Emil was so nice that he even provided me a price. I was so happy he said I could call him when I had the money and he would honor me the price. amazing company to reach out to.Jasmine · Google review

Doesn't get any better than this guy! I have recently purchased a condo with a broken garage door opener. It was missing some brackets. I called them, and Emil came out promptly the next morning. On time! He was able to run back to his shop and get the bracket I needed. It took him less than an hour to complete the entire project! My garage door works great now. I said a little thank you to Emil as I opened my garage door late last night and drove in my garage. I would definitely call him again if I needed anything done with my garage door. Highly recommend, plus he's just a super nice guy, which the process so much easier. Thanks Emil!Winston · Google review

Permits, HOAs and emergency access in Beaumont
City permits. Beaumont's Building and Safety is at 550 E. 6th Street, 951-769-8529, open Monday through Thursday 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Friday 8:00 a.m. to noon, and permit submittals must be digital, by email to permits@beaumontca.gov or through the online portal on beaumontca.gov. The page links a list of work exempt from permits that we could not read, so we could not confirm whether a gate, a gate operator or its wiring needs a permit. Call Building and Safety before a new gate or new electrical work.
Fire hazard zones. The State Fire Marshal issued recommended 2025 maps on March 24, 2025, and the city page gives no street list; the map is on the Riverside County Fire site. Owners in Very High zones must keep 100 feet of defensible space and meet home-hardening and wildland-urban interface codes.
Emergency access. Gates can affect how fire and police reach a property. Ask the local fire department about key switch or Knox box requirements before you install or change a locked entry.
HOAs. If your neighborhood has an HOA with an architectural review board, ask before you change the design or color of a gate. We can write a scope of work for the review.
Safety standard. Automatic gate operators are covered by the UL 325 safety standard, which calls for entrapment protection such as photo eyes or safety edges. We test those devices before the gate goes back into service.

Beaumont gate repair: questions we hear
Is there gate repair near me in Beaumont?
Yes. Emil Garage Doors repairs swing and sliding driveway gates in Beaumont (ZIP 92223) and the neighborhoods next door. Call (213) 340-4232, tell us your street or neighborhood, the gate type and what it does, and we book the soonest visit. See gate repair near me.
Is there electric gate repair near me in Beaumont?
Yes. Electric gate repair near me in Beaumont means a technician who repairs the operator, control board, sensors, remotes and backup battery as well as the gate itself. Call (213) 340-4232 and we book the soonest visit. See electric gate repair.
What is the difference between gate repair and electric gate repair in Beaumont?
Gate repair means the gate itself: hinges, posts, latches, wheels, tracks and frames. Electric gate repair means the parts that move it: the operator, control board, sensors, remotes, keypads and battery. Most service calls need both checked, so we start with the gate and then test the electronics. See gate repair.
Why does my electric gate hum but not open?
A humming operator with a gate that will not move usually means the gate is jammed or a part in the operator has failed, such as a capacitor or gear. Stop using it and call us before the motor burns out.
How much does gate repair cost in Beaumont?
The price depends on what failed, the size and weight of the gate and the parts. We quote after we see the gate or photos, and before work starts.
My gate does not work during a power outage. What can I do?
Most operators have a manual release, and many can use a backup battery. Use the release as the manufacturer directs and call us. We test the battery and the control board, because a flat battery or a board that lost its settings after an outage is common.
Should electric gates be serviced?
Yes. A yearly check of the battery, sensors, hinges or track, and operator keeps a gate from failing at a bad time.
Can you repair a gate operator from any brand?
We repair most residential operators. Tell us the brand and model, or send a photo of the unit. If parts are no longer made we explain your options.
Which ZIP code do you serve in Beaumont?
Beaumont uses ZIP code 92223, which also carries the Cherry Valley alias, so some 92223 addresses are outside the city. Map data shows ZIP code 92220, Banning's ZIP, on the Four Seasons streets, and we could not confirm which applies, so call us with your address.
Does the wind in Beaumont affect gates?
Wikipedia calls Beaumont one of the windiest cities in Southern California. Strong gusts can loosen hinges and latches on wide or solid gates and push debris into tracks. We check the hinges, the latch and the track when we repair a gate.
Do Beaumont's fire hazard rules affect a gate?
The city confirms Very High Fire Hazard Severity Zone designations, and owners in those zones must keep 100 feet of defensible space and meet home-hardening and wildland-urban interface codes. We could not confirm a rule about gates in particular, so ask Building and Safety at 951-769-8529 if your property is in a Very High zone.
Can a handyman fix a gate?
A handyman can handle a loose latch or a dead remote battery. A failed operator, a control board or a gate that has dropped off its hinges needs a technician who can test the controls and the safety devices.
Do you repair garage doors in Beaumont too?
Yes. See garage door repair in Beaumont for springs, cables, openers and new doors, and garage door repair near me. When you ask for both we can look at the gate and the garage door at the same address.
