Doesn't get any better than this guy! I have recently purchased a condo with a broken garage door opener. It was missing some brackets. I called them, and Emil came out promptly the next morning. On time! He was able to run back to his shop and get the bracket I needed. It took him less than an hour to complete the entire project! My garage door works great now. I said a little thank you to Emil as I opened my garage door late last night and drove in my garage. I would definitely call him again if I needed anything done with my garage door. Highly recommend, plus he's just a super nice guy, which the process so much easier. Thanks Emil!Winston · Google review

Called the office to let them know my issues and asked if we could get someone out to look at my door. Was told between 11-12...drove home from work at 11:05 and Emil was waiting and ready to get to work. Not knowing anything about how to fix a garage door, Emil did a great job explaining why I was having issues. Quoted a reasonable price (well at least what I thought was reasonable) and less than 40 minute later he had fixed the problem. Great customer service from intake of the call to fixing my door! If you need a garage door repair...support local business and give them your business, you won't be disappointed.Guadalupe · Google review
My garage door and opener were pretty banged up and not working properly. Emil Garage Doors came out, did a thorough evaluation of door and all it's parts. Even though the previous home owner rigged up the garage door opener with the wrong springs and parts, Emil repaired the door and saved us money by using some of the old parts. That kind of honesty will get 5 stars all day long. Thank you Emil Garage Doors for your great service.Bradford · Google review

What Everett weather does to a garage door
Wikipedia's climate table for Everett (1991-2020 normals) gives a July mean high of 74.9 degrees, a December mean low of 34.3 and about 35.7 inches of precipitation a year. Snow is rare; the highest recorded total was 26.6 inches in 1965. Long damp months rust springs, cables, rollers and tracks and swell wood and fiberboard door bottoms.
On February 8, 2019 a snowstorm hit the Snohomish County lowlands, and the Herald reported that the high at Paine Field never topped 35 degrees. On November 19, 2024 a bomb cyclone cut power to about 135,000 Snohomish PUD customers at its peak, and 99 percent were back by November 25. When the power fails, the red manual-release cord is how you open the door by hand.
Twice a year, wipe the tracks, lubricate the rollers and hinges, and test the safety reverse. After a windstorm, look at the track brackets and the top panel before you run the opener.
- Wipe and lubricate hinges and rollers against rust
- Check track brackets after a windstorm
- Know where the manual release is

Opener safety, permits and design rules in Everett
Opener safety. Federal rules (the Consumer Product Safety Commission's standard for automatic residential garage door operators, 16 CFR part 1211) require openers made for homes to reverse the door when it meets an obstruction and to have a separate entrapment protection device, which on most openers is the pair of photo-eye sensors near the floor. If your opener ignores the sensors or does not reverse, stop using it and call us. See opener installation.
HOAs and style rules. If you live in a planned community or a historic district, check style and color rules before you choose a new door. See new garage doors for styles.
City permits. Everett is its own city. Permit Services is listed in the city directory at 2930 Wetmore Avenue, 2nd Floor, phone 425-257-8810 (older city documents show a different address, so confirm before you visit). We could not confirm whether a same-size garage door replacement or opener swap needs a permit, so ask Permit Services before the work. Everett also has historic overlay districts (Rucker/Grand, Norton/Grand and Riverside) where exterior work that needs a building permit goes to the city's Historical Commission; if your home is in one, ask the city before changing the door style. We could not verify local wind-load or HOA rules.
State rules. Washington treats anyone who builds, alters, repairs or improves real property as an independent business as a contractor (RCW 18.27.010), and contractors must register with the Washington Department of Labor & Industries. L&I's contractor page lists a $15,000 bond for specialty contractors (the page notes increases from July 1, 2024), general liability insurance and a Verify a Contractor lookup at lni.wa.gov; use it for any contractor before you hire. We did not verify whether wiring an opener needs a separate electrical permit.

Everett garage door repair: questions we hear
Is there garage door repair near me in Everett?
Yes. Emil Garage Doors repairs garage doors in Everett (ZIP 98201) and the neighborhoods next door. Call (206) 970-4958, tell us your street or neighborhood and what the door does, and we book the soonest visit. See garage door repair near me.
What is the average price to repair a garage door in Everett?
Typical prices: a 12-point safety inspection is $89, a torsion spring pair for a standard two-car door is $250 to $450 (heavy-duty springs $350 to $900), a cable pair is $175 to $350, and a belt-drive opener installed with battery backup is $550 to $900. The final price is confirmed after we see the door.
What is the most common garage door repair in Everett?
Broken torsion springs are among the most common garage door repairs, because springs wear out after a set number of open-and-close cycles. Cables, rollers, safety sensors and off-track doors follow. See garage door spring repair.
How much is a service call for a garage door?
Our 12-point safety inspection is $89. It covers the springs, cables, rollers, tracks, sensors and opener, and we explain what we find before any repair starts.
Is it cheaper to repair or replace a garage door?
A repair is usually cheaper when the door itself is sound and only a spring, cable, roller or sensor failed. Replacement makes sense when panels are bent or rotted, the door is very old or the opening needs a different size. We tell you which one fits before we start.
Which ZIP codes do you serve in Everett?
Everett's street ZIP codes are 98201, 98203, 98204 and 98208. ZIP 98207 belongs to Naval Station Everett, and 98206 and 98213 are PO boxes. Call us if you are not sure we reach your address.
Do I need a permit to replace a garage door in Everett?
We could not confirm a garage-door-specific rule. Call Everett Permit Services at 425-257-8810 before a replacement, and ask about the historic overlay if your home is on Rucker Hill or in the Riverside or Norton/Grand areas.
Do you serve Silver Lake and South Everett?
Yes. Silver Lake and the South Everett neighborhoods of Evergreen and Pinehurst-Beverly Park are inside the city. Tell us your cross street when you call and we book the soonest visit.
Can a handyman fix a garage door?
A handyman can handle a sensor or a roller. Springs and cables are under high tension and need a trained technician, so we do not recommend fixing them yourself.
How do I test my garage door's safety reverse and sensors?
Close the door with the opener, then lay a 2x4 flat on the floor in the door's path. The door should touch it and reverse. For the sensors, start the door closing and pass a broom handle through the beam near the floor. The door should stop and go back up. If either test fails, stop using the automatic close and call us for a repair.
